Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

Recommended Posts

I think that was part of my problem too yesterday. Tomorrow I am going to try to eat more solid, filling foods during the day and hope I am not starving by night.

Unfortunately I didn't learn. I started out good but had a bad middle part of the day.

B - 1/4 c leftover lasagna w/ zucchini noodles

L - 12 Wheat thins Fiber selects crackers w/ Velveeta of all things. Why????

S1 – FF iced latte

S2 – Too many potato and lentil curls from Trader Joes. At least I got plenty of fiber today between these and the fiber wheat thins, but way too many carbs!!!

D – 4 oz fish…just fish because I had so little Protein today.

luluc-can the lentil Soup be pureed similar to split pea soup without being disgusting?

Slim,

During my post op phase and for the 5 day pouch diet last week, I made "cream" Soups with Greek yogurt for protein:

§ 2-3 cups of any vegetable or combination of vegetables (zucchini, carrots, yellow or winter squash, pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, celery root, parsnips, spinach, kale, etc). Any vegetable you like will work. I typically use a single summer type vegetable (squash, spinach) because their flavors are so delicate, but often combine the winter root vegetables.

§ 2 cups chicken or vegetable stock. A bouillon cube and Water will work fine, or even plain water with a little extra salt.

§ 1 clove garlic

§ Few sprigs of any fresh herb you have laying around or a combination, even fresh parsley. Dried herbs will work in a pinch, but fresh is much tastier. Last week I used cilantro, mint, and basil in my cream of zucchini because that’s what I had. Curry or ginger and cilantro are awesome with winter squash or carrots.

§ 1 C. Fat Free Greek Yogurt

§ Salt & Pepper to tatse

Cut vegetable(s) of choice into large pieces. Simmer vegetable(s), chicken broth, and garlic in a covered saucepan until vegetables are just tender, typically 10-15 minutes. Hard root vegetables may take longer, and leafy vegetables like spinach will only take a minute or two.

After vegetable of choice is cooked, throw in fresh herbs. Puree with a hand blender or transfer to a regular blender or food processor and process until smooth. Add Greek Yogurt, salt, and pepper. Puree again to incorporate yogurt. Reheat under low heat until soup is almost simmering. ***NOTE if you use regular yogurt skip the final heating because it will curdle.

This soup tastes very rich like it has tons of flour and cream, but it’s virtually fat free and very low calorie. The Greek yogurt has tons of Protein. The soup is not very filling though, even to a bandster, but heck you could eat the whole pot of it and wouldn’t have more than 200 calories!

You can use the same method for cream of Tomato Soup with a can of pureed tomatoes or even V-8 with the yogurt and herbs, plus a little splenda. I've even made an uncooked version with seeded cucumbers, mint, garlic, and yogurt blended.

In regards to the food porn - it's sad how much I watch - unfortunately I'm also addicted to print form - I get so many food related magazines and my cookbook addiction is almost as bad as my love for novels.

All my friends make fun of me because I rarely use recipes - but I really do - or ones I've seen -stay in my head and sometimes I just modify them as I go. I love seeing what others do with food.

Last night I had a friend over for dinner and when he came in he asked if I wanted the box on the steps brought in. When I took it from him - I was like - WTH did I order that was soooo heavy - opened the box and remembered it was a shipment of books (about 8 of the America's Test Kitchen series - they were 50% off)

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
