Do not compare me..!

Recommended Posts

It has taken me 3 months to lose 30 pounds. My surgery was a band to sleeve revision. Yes my weight loss has been slow but it's been consistent with no stalls. One of my co- workers had the nerve to shove a before & after picture of her cousin who had weight loss surgery the same time as me and had already lost 65 pounds and began to tell me that I'm not dieting correctly!! Never mind that her cousin is 15 years younger than me & was heavier than me in her before picture. Plus, she wasn't sure if she had bypass or the sleeve. Sorry for such a long rant but boy did she piss me off!!

That would have earned her the icy stare of death and a very slow, "I'll... let... you... know... when... I... need... your... advice."

I might have gone postal. "Back Away Before You Get Hurt" This is exactly why I didn't tell anyone. "

Everyone has been really supportive. This woman lost some weight on her own and now acts like a self righteous bitch. She's been saying things to other people too about their diet & exercise and is pissing off others at work. I was happy to see it wasn't just me she was attacking

I honestly commend you for not punching her square in the uterus.

Who the hell do some people think they are??

I would have done my favorite response: Slowly raise your head up and look into their eyes. Tear up a bit. Ask in a small voice "Why would you say something like that?" Put head back down and don't say another word or look up. This really shuts 'em up except when they are stammering out an apology or lame explanation.

That's nice. I'd just tell 'em to suck my big ole' booty!

Yikes. I would be sensitive to that comment too. Chalk it up to ignorance and try to shake it off. LOL, I know... sometimes easier said than done.

Hi,

Who cares how quick or slow it is, so long as you are losing. It may be a longer road for some people to reach their target. So long as we all get there in the end that is all that matters.

The bitch!! Bet she didn't lose 10lbs a month!

Just restrain yourself when she starts to regain as 95% of non-wls people do.

Oh my goodness this puss ridden maggot needs to go! Actually this could easily be classified as harassment/bullying. I would ask her to join you in a quiet room and then proceed to let her know in a really sweet voice that while you appreciate what her cousin has achieved that she has to realise that everyones journey is different and advise her that she has offended you with what she has done. Then proceed to tell her should she continue to compare you out aloud in public again that you will approach your HR dept and will report her. That should send her packing darkies ;). if your not sure what i mean here, lol i really don't think she will ever mention anything of the like out in public again.

Normally I would just chalk this up to total stupidity on her part and move on however, the gall of her has me seething as well.

If it were me I might actually have to say something nasty to shut down her behavior forever. Especially if she is doing this to others.

I might suggest something along the lines of: "do you know the first thing about weight loss or do you just think you do? The reason I ask is, it is a very private issue for some people and your butting in with your uneducated opinion can really cause damage to people who are battling this disease of obesity. I know you clearly don't get it but I would appreciate it if you kept your opinions and non advice to yourself. I have a professional team I am working with who understand exactly what I should be doing.

Have you thought about all the people you have hurt by providing your insight? You might want to consider someone besides your self for a change because this is clearly about making you feel better."

Then just walk away.

Good luck! You are doing absolutely fantastic and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
