What does "feeling full" actually feel like now?

Recommended Posts

I'm a little over a week out, and am on the mushies diet (Greek yogurt, eggs, cheese...). I noticed if I drink something too fast or too thick it hurts, this also goes for the mushies. Is pain the new signal of feeling full? Because I don't feel anything. I have no clue what my personal limit is... I just know it hurts to eat a good chunk of the time. So I purposely hold back on everything, keeping portions small... Well, because I just don't know, what to feel?

I had the same problem. I tried to keep portions really small. Even then, sometimes it hurt. My doctor said it was normal for the first few weeks to feel pain when something passes through to the stomach.

I am 4 weeks post surgery. I have discovered that I sneeze when I am full. There is actually a real medical name for it, snatiation reflex.

For me, full still equates to 1/2 cup for comfortable; much over that and I FEEL like I'm stuffed. And it happens quickly.....NOT 20 minutes later. Also, as I eat, my tummy begins making all kinds of lovely noises (normal, and sometimes entertaining  ). All you have to do is eat 2 bites too many a couple times and you'll learn how it feels for you. Everyone's feeling of fullness is a little bit different.

Thank you for the advice. I'm being super careful with portion sizes. I guess I just keep basing everything off of other people's experience (I know I shouldn't). I just don't know what to expect... I guess I thought I'd have the surgery, take 2 bites of food and ????BAM???? be suddenly full. But since that's not happening, I was getting really worried, that I was doing something wrong. ????

I have the same problem right now. I don't feel hungry, I don't feel full, I don't feel anything...

I use the slight uncomfortable/painful feeling as my stop signal. It happens if I eat too much in one bite, don't chew my food well enough, or if I've simply eaten too much in total. I've been keeping my portions small and measuring meat with a food scale.

I was super worried also because when I started pureed foods I was not experiencing that "full" feeling. I was wondering if I was even sleeved. Haha! I was sleeved April 27th and just about 5 days ago that full feeling kicked in Trust me, you will know. Hope that helps!

I feel like my chest gets a little tight and I lose interest in my food, then I hiccup. I'm done. I also make sure to measure as I too have learned to torture that is that one bite too much. You don't want to go there. Just listen to your body it will let you know :-)

Thanks for the advice! I've noticed I started getting hiccups now that you've mentioned it... They drive me nuts! Lol. I seem to get them especially after I drink a large amount of Fluid. I also had a hiatal hernia repair... Wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I get them after I drink too much too! AND I had a hiatal hernia repair. I'm starting to think that has a lot to do with it. I also can't really burp but then if I eat something I can feel it push up gasses and it produces a burp. Are you experiencing that too?

Yes!!! Totally! It drives me nuts! My husband has to pat my back like a baby. He gets a kick out it. We don't have kids yet, so he says it's his practice. Lol

I get the hiccups when I'm full or pushed it too far.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
