port placed right above my navel!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery a few days ago and just realized that my port is 2 inches above my navel! I told the doc right before surgery that I wanted it closer to my ribs. I plan to get pregnant in a year or so, so I hope this doesn't get in the way! also I hope it is not visible after i loose weight!

That's right on your waist isn't it? if it becomes a problem I understand the replacement of the port is very minor surgery. so don't worry.

That might be uncomfortable around the waist! But don't worry, if it does turn out to be a problem it can be replaced and re-sited. It is not uncommon for people to have them moved after the fat has gone because if you lose a lot, the port can show.

Actually just to add, are you certain that is the port? Sounds like a daft question but if you have several incisions, it may not be that one! It is very common to get a seroma- a very hard lump formed by fluids secreted by the body during the operation. After a couple of days these solidify and then are eventually (weeks or months later) re-absorbed into the body.

I was sure I knew where my port was - a hard egg-sized lump - and was very surprised to discover one day, about a month post-op, that it had totally disappeared! And reappeared under a different incision!!

I'm assuming it is the port because the hard lump is next to the 3in scar, the other 4 are very small. but I do hope you are right kate p!

I'm so glad to hear that it can be relocated because i would not want it to interfere with a growing uterus!

Thank you

Now that I've lost so much weight, the port sticks out like a golfball under my skin. Sometimes it's visible if I'm wearing a clingy top or dress. I may switch to a low profile port if I continue to be bothered by it.

I was pregnant with my port right above my navel, I had no problems with it during pregnancy or showing when I lost weight.

did it show?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
