Shout out to all those from Iowa! Let's chat! Who's your surgeon? Where are you at in your journey VSG?

This month will be my last of six doctor supervised appointments. My medical team will review my case and decide whether or not I'm a good candidate for surgery, and then they will submit it to my insurance for approval! I've been on this journey since I've seen my primary care doctor in December, who recommended this surgery for me. It doesn't seem long to me at all! I've been visiting this board and doing my research on VSG, and I'm ready to go!

Hi,

I am almost 10 weeks out. I am doing well. Our surgical team is the greatest!

Maybe we will see each other at a monthly group meeting!

Good luck to you!

Hi! Sorry! Haven't checked in a while! I'm glad to meet you!!

@ - since you have the same surgeon - how long did it take for them to review your case and submit it to insurance? I'm getting so antsy!

Congrats to both of you for your weight loss! Wow!! :-)

I started the process with the surgeons office in June of 2014 and had my surgery in February 2015. I did have to do the 6 month doctor supervised diet, which my family doctor go me started on in April 2014. After the psych appointments and stress test, my packet was submitted to insurance and I was approved in less than 2 weeks. That was all right before Christmas.

I had to wait to have my surgery due to sinus infection and upper respiratory ailment.

I am very pleased with how Dr. Lamaster's office handles everything. They are very on point and very professional. You are in good hands! :)

Less than two weeks! Good to know. I've been with them since January, and I agree! I feel like I'm in really good hands!

@@TammyDTM - now my case is in the hands of Dr. LaMasters and her medical team to approve, and then it gets submitted to insurance. Do you remember how long it took to approve your case? Was it a couple of weeks or less? Thanks!!

@@mclorrie - I remember the surgical office taking about 2 weeks and the insurance company sent my approval letter to me in less than 2 weeks. So it shouldn't be too long for you now. After the approvals were all finished I went in to the office again for another weigh-in, and pre-op class and chose a surgery date. I can't really give you a "perfect" timeframe for all of that because I had some other medical issues that slowed me down a little during the later process. But, once you get going it goes really fast!

Good luck to you! If you have any more questions for me, I'm here! You can private message me if you like.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
