9 days post op, keep having dizzy spells

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, today was a bit scary. When I got out of bed, I began shaking and sweating so badly the Water was pouring from my forehead, arm pits, hands and feet. The room was spinning and I wasn't very coherent. I just kept praying that God wouldn't let me faint because I was alone and no one would find me. After 15 minutes, I regained my strength and went back to bed. Do you think my blood sugar dropped? I have been drinking 1 1/2 cans od Protein Shakes a day and drinking 48 oz of water a day. Total 64oz. I get to start eating on wed next week. Advice please

I think it would be a good idea to call your bariatric team. NOW. It can't hurt, and that is what you paid them for! Keep drinking your fluids, and try to get in some more shakes. Call a friend or a relative and let them know what is going on and have them check in on you. Do this NOW! Have them keep checking you periodically, and even stay with you. If you feel you should, call an ambulance, and make sure you tell them about your surgery. I have been told if you have had this surgery NOT to have a tube inserted into you esophagus, but I am not a medical professional, so ask about this. Good luck to you and keep us posted! Blessings to you....

Are you on any blood pressure meds? You might need to reduce, talk to your Dr.

I agree talk to your Dr. I was going through something similar to that last week. I could be up walking and it would hit me all of a sudden. Not the sweating thing but the dizzy spell. My doc says I'm not drinking enough fluids. I was getting my 64 oz in but I guess still not enough so I shoot for 70 oz.

If you still have you blood glucose monitor it wouldn't hurt to check your sugar from time to time, especially if you have another shaking, sweating spell. Make sure you are getting enough Protein each day and keep some glucose tablets or gel around "just in case".

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
