I have PCOS. Was diagnosed when I was 16. Have been one form of birth control or another since then. Right now I have the Mirena.

Since I had the mirena I have had normal periods. About 35 days, with only a weird cycle (for like 3 months) when I thought I was pregnant (turned out it was a chemical pregnancy).

I got taken off of metformin which was mainly for my diabetes. I was on 1000 mg twice a day.

I grow dark facial hair, and have to shave like every other day.

Does the facial hair go away or get less as you lose weight?

I'm sorry...but no. My doctor explained that once the hair has started to grow in the unusual places it continues to grow. To permanently remove the hair, you would need electrolysis (which is hella expensive). My Hair growth has slowed down somewhat but still comes back every two weeks after waxing. I'm only 30 pounds from goal weight and my blood work is perfect. I've "cured" my PCOS but still have the hair as a reminder.

I have recently been thinking about this stuff. I was diagnosed with PCOS like two months after i started menstruating...12 years old. Most of my hair fell out, and it came back, but very thin. I have a lot of fuzz on my face, but darker hairs under my chin down my neck. I keep wondering if this actually would decrease after my sleeve. I had a hysterectomy last November as a result of the PCOS, and i am not in menopause yet, but everyone keeps saying weightloss will alleviate some of the symptoms i have: facial hair, darkend skin in folds, depression, acne and oily skin. I had a totaly hysterectomy last year, only leaving ovaries, but i was infertile before that so at least some problems are solved.

I'm now 10 pounds from goal weight. For me, losing weight resolved the dark skin folds, oily skin/breakouts, and I now ovulate every month. What it didn't alleviate is my fine/thin hair, facial hair and depression.

I will say that my facial hair grows back even slower now. I can actually wax and go up to 6 weeks without needing to again. Yay! I can deal with that. The depression comes and goes. I find getting outside more helps a lot.

Here's a before and after for you. I don't know if you can see, but in the before shot my skin was breaking out and I had a bad dark ring around my neck. That is all gone. Skin is basically flawless now and I have to moisturize every day because it's not oily at all. There's hope!

Hi ladies..am new to this forum. I was just sleeved this past Tuesday. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 24 and I'm almost 36 now. It was beyond time for me to do something to help myself. I've tried all the "diets" and different ways of eating but ultimately ended up bigger than I was so I opted for the sleeve. Anyway, I wanted to see how the facial hair and all that was affected so that's why I chimed in. Kinda a bummer that the facial hair sticks around.

Now I'm 3 lb away from goal weight. I still have the hair on my neck but it grows much slower. I plan on having laser hair removal eventually. ????????

I have hair on my face that I shave too. I've been telling myself once I'm not obese anymore, maybe the hair won't bother me quite so bad. I feel like being fat AND having facial hair AND acne was really unfair! Like even two out of the three, yeesh!

Very excited to hear from those of you who have seen their oily hair/skin get better! Mine is so oily I can't go a day without showering... and sometimes I'm all oily by the afternoon when I've showered in the morning! I hate it!

How has your acne been since surgery and losing the weight? I get so many pimples on my jawline and chin and neck. >:(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
