WHAT FOODS GETS STUCK or give you problems?

Recommended Posts

chicken, it it's not moist enough, Pad Thai Noodles, chinese sticky rice, (rice pilaf is ok, though). If I eat bread in very small, well-chewed bites I am OK, but it can take a long time to go down.

Depends on the day of the month for me with some foods like chicken and bread.< /p>

But can honestly say that I can tell when I chew if it will go down or not. Too thick, chewy, mushy soft... I spit it out and don't even try.

I was told by my doc and from what I have read. Rice is not a great food to chose. Rice can be ok if it is cooked very well and fully puffed before eating. bread is better if eaten toasted, also try wheat not white, to Gummy. as for chicken i have not eaten much but did not have a problem with chick-fila nuggets. it is a little fattier though

meat is a hard one, fish is good for me and I have been able to eat steak which is kind of weird, many of my friends that have had the surgery told me that I would not be able to eat it. It all depends I guess, some days are different then others.

Same as the others:

meat

Most fresh vegetables

eggs (any kind)

bread

Snap Peas (the cracker kind you put on salads-clogs me on the first bite)

However, I think if I slowed way down, stood up and walked about, took a bite every 3-4 minutes I might be able to eat almost everything. I've noticed foods that I just took a small, quick bite of and kept going will stay down. But, who has that kind of time and microwave access at work!

The only time i had a problem is when i took too big of a bite and didn't chew enough. That happened with a chicken wrap with lettuce in it. Ouch. That was painful.

The way bread was explained to me was that the GLUTEN is the problem. Take a piece of bread and wad it up in your fist pour Water on it and watch it get all gummy.... (that is the gluten) the ball of Gummy gluten acts like a cork in your band and either you have to wait for it to pass or it has to come back up, which is why toasted bread acts better.

My weird problem food is refried Beans.......... why I have NO idea.. it is usually a staple to those newly banded or a good Protein filled mushie... I 've tried them 4 times in three months and each and every time I end up sicker than a dog.

Today I had a problem with almonds, but I was eating a handful not paying attention and didn't chew them up well.......... didn't pb but I did get the FLAMING GOLFBALL feeling.

Also going back to the RNY discussion... the biggest difference is that the RNY people are not able to absorb nutrients from the food that they eat.. it passes right on through.......... with us we do absorb but it has to be in small enough pieces that it passes through a band... I would take TerriDoodles advice and do a lot of research on the differences. I have two RL best friends that have both had the RNY and I knew it wasn't for ME.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
