As with any surgery, you just have to wait it out. Congrats on your decision. I am sure you will be feeling better in a few days.

Yes, I'm taking my meds but they make me feel yukky! When I take them I sleep alot which is good, but then I wake up and it's like I've been sleeping with a 50llb weight on my tummy. I am walking around, but I haven't had much gas at all. I'm feeling so low, I wish I had'nt bothered having it done now, I feel so terrible. Sorry for the moan guys!

First 2-3 days pain sucked, after that it was better, i thought that i didnt get gas pains but now looking back after 1 week i felt so different after, so the uncomfortable feeling in the stomach was either swelling or gas.

you are doing pretty good, i wasn't able to go online for about week after banding i was so sick. Just keep taking your pain meds and it will get better alittle bit everyday. The first week is the roughest.

I was banded 2 weeks ago June 2nd/07, I to felt pretty bad for the first couple of days I couldn't even lay down in my bed I slept in a chair. But things are much better this week. Keep walking because you do have gas for sure, and once you start passing it you will feel better. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Jetlagjane, I'm sorry you are feeling so yucky! Everyone reacts differently to surgery, some say they feel great right after and others like you and I don't feel so great. Just give yourself time and lots and lots of self care. You'll find that everyday it gets better and you'll probably be feeling alot better in a week or less. In addition to walking you might want to try a heating pad or ice pack across your tummy depending on which you prefer, hot or cold. Also, you might want to try a bed wedge, it'a a piece of foam you can buy at foam places or home care stores. I couldn't lay flat or on my side right after surgery so it really helped alot. Lastly, get some good videos, books or magazines or anything that will take your mind off your tummy for awhile. Between sleeping and being distracted the time will go faster and you'll be feeling great before you know it!!!

Take care of yourself.

My God Jane, if you feel well enough to post on this web site, you are doing OK gurl.....Give yourself sometime to heal. Surgery, probably at least 4 incisions, general anesthetics, a tight band wrapped around your stomach, stiches....you are not supposed to feel like a million bucks yet. The bright side of this story is that you will heal, you will lose weight and you will fee like a million bucks...eventually

Take care

Thanks guys for your posts, I had a reasonable sleep last night and do feel slightly better today! Your right Wheezy, I have just had a big op, of course I'm going to feel rough. Sounds silly now but, I thought I'd be skipping out of the hospital. Does the pressure in your tummy go away?

oh for sure, in a bit you'll feel just like you did before going in. Like i said, for one week out of surgery i was like 60-70% and i thought oh wow, ok i feel good, but then when i came back to 100% only when i looked back i realised i was actually feeling pretty rough.

Hang in there jetlagjane. I felt a sharp pain near my belly button for about a week everytime I would get up. It went away. I also felt like I couldn't take a deep breath and when I called the clinic they told me it was normal. All these symptoms disappeared within a week. Take it easy. You have taken a giant leap in the right direction and we are all here for you, moans and all....

Donna D, Thanks so much for that post, I was going to call the clinic tomorrow as I have a sharp pain near my tummy button cut and can't take a deep breath! That's saved me a job! I also find I'm like taking internal burps if thats sounds right. I feel wind in my upper chest and instead of it coming out I kinda need to do a big swallow, anyone else had this?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
