Has anyone tried to get the gastric sleeve and doc couldn't do it because of scar tissue from previous surgeries? My surgery is scheduled for Monday. I just watched my 600 pound life and doc couldn't do it because of the scar tissue!! My doc said it might be an issue but won't know until he's in there. I've had a nephrectomy due to cancer and hysterectomy!

My surgeon answered that same question when I asked him. I had a radical hyster, and a giant (benign) mass removed, so I appear to have been gutted like a fish. He said it would only take him an additional 5 minutes to cut away the adhesions. And if the belly button has had too many scopes through it, he will put it to the side. No worries, he said. I don't think adhesions are new to them.

I had several abdominal surgeries prior to my sleeve surgery. My surgeon said that it would probably take her a little longer than normal, but that she wouldn't know until she got inside. It did take her a little while longer, but she said it wasn't that big of a deal.

I had laprascopic gallbladder removal and tubal ligation prior to sleeve surgery and it was a non issue.

My surgeon said he cleaned up some old scar tissue that was in there from a tubal and gallbladder surgery but didn't say it was a problem.

A friend of mine is full of mesh due to hernia repair(s) and a temporary colostomy (her intestines blew due to infection, she almost died). Her dr says she's not a candidate for bariatric because of the mesh. Anyone with that issue that was able to have the surgery?

Oh dear -I'm two weeks into the 6 month supervised diet and I have have had those exact surgeries plus several other. The bariatric program I'm using dihodn't think it would be a problem but they were going to check with the surgeon. I know that I may have to have an open sleeve operation but I don't know what I will do if I can't have the surgery. I have a call in now to learn if the program's nurse has talked to the surgeon about my case.

A surgeon will not know if your a candidate until he's inside the belly with the camera. Monies are still rendered to surgeon from insurance with or without surgery...

My aunt was unable to have ANY bariatric procedures due to severe adhesions. The surgeon could barely get one of the scopes in, and said "no way". Also, she is not a candidate for "open" procedures for the same reason.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
