Despite my best effort...Ugh!

Recommended Posts

I had my first consult appointment on 3/4, doc suggested in lose some weight to aid in the operation going smoothly. I set in my mind to lose 5#'s by my next visit (4/8). Sure I lost it and gained and lost.... This has been the story of my life for the past year or so... Two steps forward, two steps back. At (rare) moments I get delusional convincing myself I can do this without surgery..then the blaring reality enters.

I'm still proud of my effort, and the changes I've put in place; they are what I'll need long term. I'm sure I'll have a loss by appointment next week, probably not what I had my heart set on. As a former weight watchers leader used to tell me, a loss is a loss, no matter how small!

Amen... I just worry that my surgeon won't see it that way...

Did he give you an idea of what you should lose, and did he give you a diet plan? When is your surgery scheduled? If you absolutely HAVE to lose weight before you see him again, why not try using the Protein shakes as Meal Replacements until that time? You could kind of do a pre-op diet to show your intentions are good, and that you are serious about this. Many go on pre-op diets, anyway, so this would show you know what you need to do. Good luck to you!

He didn't give a set #, but said anything from 5 to 20 #'s. I have been using portion shakes in place of Snacks, I guess I could replace a meal as well to kick it up a notch.

Thanks!

Protein shakes instead of snacIs on top of meals could be why you are bouncing up and down. The best thing you can do to lose some weight quickly is use them to replace your Breakfast and lunch and then have a very light meal for dinner consisting Of 4/6 oz. of healthy Protein , salad with light dressing and vegetables. Steer clear of Pasta, bread, rice, potatoes and sweets.

If you get hungry in between meals drink 8 oz. of fat free or 1 percent milk. Or have a Light yogurt.

If you stick to a plan like this you will absolutely lose weight. Also Make sure you are drinking between 48 and 64 oz. of Water.

Steer clear of liquids that have sugar or caffeine, the sugar will hurt your progress and the caffeine will make yOu hungry.

After surgery you would be following a similiar way of life, this will help u get ready for it.

Djmohr I agree with your statement if you drink the Protein shakes as a Meal Replacement and drink your Water and have a small dinner the weight will come off in time, you can do this , remember what they are looking at is do you have the dedication to make life changes, they already understand that lossing weight is a challenge. You got this. Keep us posted.

Yeah the Protein Shakes are definitly NOT a snake. they contain between 250 and 300 calories with some of them. I was required to see a nutritionist every month (for 9 months actually).

I learned a lot and you will too.

A HUGE help to me wa 'Marie Calender' meals.

The turkey w/stuffing is ONLY 325 calories takes incredible!!!!! Even has GRAVY!

The steak and pot/w gravy (and mushroooms but I just took them out) is 300 calories.

There are few more just CHECK THE CALORIES!!! Cause some of them do have around 600 calories so be careful.

I live in MA and we have a chain called Stop & Shp. The meals are around $4 a piece. BUT, I would stock up when they would have a 5 for $10 sale. One time they even had a sale where they were 5/$10 and if you spent $25 on that product you would get $15 back instntly.

So you would be paying around $.75 a piece!!!!!

I lost 35 lbs just by eating them. And you DO get full.

So if you ate 2 of them and a Protein Shake (just to get ue to them and keep up you r protein) you are talking 800 calorie for 3 healthy meals and then have a nack that ia no more then 125 calories. BOOM you now have only had 925 caalroies. In a DAY.

Stay away from 'fat free' or 'surger free' they have more calories and the faat free is more surger.

I am here for a buddy if you need me.

Keep upo the post.

Good luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
