Recent gastric bypass op newby saying hello posting about progress and questions!

Recommended Posts

I am in uk and had surgery on Friday 27th March. I completed the pre op two week diet of slim fast shakes, so far the worst bit and now on liquid diet. Sent home after two days and only had to take pain killers a few times. To be honest enjoying Soups with different flavours, not really a sweet tooth. Doing this mainly to get rid of diabetes and so far so good not taken one drug associated and levels all below 6! No major food pangs as I just remind myself of the goal not to go back onto injecting insulin or victoza and if possible to stay of the metformin.

Looking for any advice and a place to chat about any issues.

I am 23 months post op from RNY gastric bypass surgery. Before I had surgery, I was a Type 2 diabetic. After the operation it went into remission. Before I even left the hospital, I was off my meds and have remained so for all this time.

@@harry866, I'm so encouraged by your post regarding your diabetes after surgery. Diabetes is the main reason I am having gastric bypass on May 7th. I'm 37 and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about two years ago. I have already experienced complications from diabetes and I can't bear the thought of having to endure additional complications as I get older. My grandfather was my only other family member who had diabetes and I watched him die of several complications due to the disease. Watching him deal with the complications was heart-wrenching. I just don't want to go there! I feel like I'm taking my future health in my hands and changing my life for the better.

Wishing you a quick and easy recovery!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
