Hello, Is there anyone from Kentucky or Bluegrass Family Health Insurance. I am trying to get my first appointment with Dr Weiss soon at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY but not sure how difficult Bluegrass family Health is going to be regarding coverage of the weight loss procedure?

Well, I know there is a waiting list presently for Dr. Weiss. I am in the beginning stages of trying to get the surgery. I am curious on the steps needed to take to achieve surgery. I currently carry bluegrass family health insurance and i know one of the requirements is a documented 7 month weight loss program before surgery (which sucks!). I have had my first appointment with my general practitioner and dr. Ko is fully aware of my interest in surgery, but she did a referral but did not put me on a diet? So my first question is I don't want to wait for Dr Weiss to advise me to go on a supervised diet. Should I just inform my doctor on how long I've been on a diet and maybe she can sign off on my paperwork? My second question is what did you do on your initial visit with Dr. Weiss (ex: weigh in, etc) I don't want to lose too much weight because I know insurance is strict on your BMI before surgery, do they weigh you the day of surgery to make sure your BMI is still a certain number? Do they weigh you on the initial visit with clothes on or off? Thanks for any helpful insight you can give me.

I don't know the ins and outs of your insurance related to diet/weight loss but his office can help you through the process.

If your BMI is borderline, definitely make sure you are very clear about expectations.

I went to Dr Weiss a couple of years ago but have decided to go through Norton in Louisville. They have been much more thorough and have been great about keeping me informed about what is going on. I have an appt with the surgeon next week, hoping for May or June surgery.

Don't wait for them to tell you to document the diet. Go ahead and start that with your PCP. Norton won't even see you until you're 6-8 months into your weigh ins depending on insurance requirements.

I haven't met anyone I didn't care for yet except his psych Dr who delayed my surgery 3 months cause he said I had to love my fat self first.... My therapist said wtf? Skinny guy right?

If the psyche was the same guy he was a weirdo. He said something to one of the ladies in the group I was with the day I was screened about needing therapy and she freaked out on him. He seemed to need therapy himself.

Ab so lutely! He was a strange little guy and he didn't get that I just came off of losing my brother. I literally came back from his memorial service 2 days before my psyche review. And he couldn't understand why i was teary. Total ass hat

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
