Any MedSurg Nurses who've been sleeved?

Recommended Posts

Wow! Hadn't thought about CPR being strenuous exercise until now. Glad y'all mentioned that one. My biggest worry, so far, has been the long days and short breaks.

Has anyone found a lunchbox or Bento box that you will use when you return to work? Worried about portioning and overly large containers. I don't want to look like a construction worker carrying a huge lunchbox for a minuscule amount of food and beverage.

Also, any advice on a high Protein snack that I can keep in my scrubs pocket for moments when you just can't get away?

Yeah, work in general can be strenuous exercise, especially when you work in the ER like I do. CPR, pushing stretchers, getting patients in and out of bed... I took the full 4 weeks off of work until my activity restriction was lifted because of this.

As far as a high Protein snack that you can keep in your pocket, I have found these Think Thin bars that aren't bad sugar and carb-wise, and have 20 grams of Protein per serving. They are really dense, though. It takes me about 45 minutes to eat one of them, and I am a year out from surgery. Not sure how I would have done with them right after surgery. Almonds are another good one, although not quite as high in protein.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
