Do you ever feel like certain exercise isn't enough?

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I started 5k training which was

10 minute walk

1 min run2 min walk done 4 times

Ending with a 10 min walk.

32 minutes. Then I did some squats and some lunges and some triceps and biceps workout.

But all day I felt like I did absolutely nothing.

Do you ever feel that way?

Also I'm at a month and a half stall so I'm feeling very discouraged lately.

Yes, and then I changed it up - added more intensity and harder workouts. I did long duration for awhile, but research shows that interval training like you are doing is quite effective. Look up or buy a good book on how to "progress".

Here was the bonus at the end of the weight loss phase... under all that fat emerged a fairly fit and toned body. It took the 14 months prior to reaching that goal.. of progressively increasing and "changing up" my routine to acheive that however. and it continues... even now.

It sounds to me like you did plenty. I would encourage you to take it slowly so you don't risk injury. I know the temptation is to jump in and go all out right from the start, but an injury will set you back a long ways. So you are right to ease into your 5k training and not push too far too fast.

I agree with both of you but I guess mainly I felt that way because normally on Sundays I do a weight lifting class and had to skip it due to time issues so I felt somewhat empty. Lol

It's funny how I went from never working out at all, to feeling like a complete slug if I ever have to miss a day. Even on my scheduled rest days I sometimes feel like I'm being lazy!

I have worked out for years --not because I wanted to but because I couldnt move otherwise (arthritis). Turns out I was just shy of getting the full benefit of an "all the way" workout -- now I finally know what the high is about. Love it! Does that mean I want to do it next time? You'd think, but I have to fake it frequently. I pretend I'm all thrilled to do it and that leverages into a good exercise session.

I try to switch up my workouts and my workout times. I am somewhat limited to what I can do because of my knees, but I once a week I take Water aerobics in the evenings, 4 days a week I go in the morning. Since my gym is a chain I go to different gyms to get different instructors/styles. Once a month I do a 90 minute African Dance class, 3 afternoons a week I do a kettle ball work out at home. I also just took my bike in for service. I plan to bike ride as the weather gets nicer.

I'm trying to do a variety of exercises at differnt times of the day. I am told this confuses the muscles so they don't get used to the same thing every day at the same time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
