Is anyone losing a lot of weight FAST?

Recommended Posts

I have seen a lot of posts about the weight loss stalls and it not going fast enough...but I haven't seen many lose weight as fast as I am. My highest weight was 296 and currently I'm at 205, 4 months out from surgery. I know we all lose different but someone tell me I'm not alone!!!!

Holy cow! Well done. I lost most of my weight pre surgery as I had to do Clear Liquids for 4 weeks before and after surgery. I'm 4 weeks out and I am already on a stall ???? my surgeon said 10lbs per month should be my goal. It's the safest way, as I don't want the saggy skin afterwards.

I know those with a higher BMI will lose a higher percentage of weight in the beginning compared to someone starting out with a lower BMI. Your weight loss seems a tad excessive though. Have you consulted your doctor? As you mentioned, rapid weight loss will likely do a toll on your hair and doesn't give your skin time to adjust. Your skin may have a hard time bouncing back. You do have youth on your side, so don't completely freak out though. I found my skin took an average of 2-3 months to adjust every time I lost weight. There were times my thighs (in particular) looked horrible and now at almost 90 pounds down from my heaviest, I have almost zero lose skin. Granted, overall I consider myself a slow loser - especially these last 7 months. The closer you get to your goal weight, the weight loss WILL slow down. I lost most of my excessive weight the first 4-5 months post-surgery. I now lose at a snail's pace. Typically 5 pounds per month as I'm coming up on my 1 year anniversary. I am 153 today. My surgeon predicted at 5'7" I would get to 160. I'm aiming for 145. Losing these last 8 pounds is taking more effort than I could have ever imagined. Remember all of those skinny friends that used to complain about losing 5-10 pounds and you wanted to say, "try having to lose 80?" :). I have become one of them! Grrrrr.

If you're getting your Protein in your hair shouldn't fall out. I would check that first, besides consulting your doctor! That's a must!!!

I don't think I am losing weight to fast, but I am super happy with my weight loss so far.

Tomorrow I will be 19wks post op and as of today I am down 80lbs. I lost 9lbs on my one week pre op diet and the rest since surgery. I have been losing consistently every week since surgery. I am trying so hard to work this lovely tool for all it's worth before I hit my 6 month mark and things start slowing down.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
