So went to my last appointment yesterday before surgery, and I have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so my surgery will be delayed until I get my sugars levelled out.

Anyone else experience this before surgery during preop testing, etc..?

I am a Type 2 Diabetic. Was diagnosed when I was 29 (I'm now 39). So before I even considered surgery I knew I was going to have some hurdles w/ getting my A1C down. My doctor put me on insulin to lower my A1C for surgery. After about 3 months of taking the insulin, my A1C went down to a level where it was "safer" to perform the surgery. In my opinion, its been worth everything I've gone through. I'm now about 5 weeks post surgery (sleeve) and my blood sugar numbers have never been better. My goal is to beat diabetes altogether but I have to loose a lot more weight before I can get my hopes up. Best of luck to you in your journey.

Thank you Jennifer. I have to say I was in total shock wen they told me yesterday. I was expecting them to give me a date. Anyhow I am expecting my family physician to prescribe Metphormin and I'll see how it works. Looking at the big picture, I'm glad they caught it before hand!

Thanks for your response.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
