New idea for protein...and it tastes GOOD!

Recommended Posts

I am 7 days post op and feeling great. I do have an issue with smells really turning me off. I found Isopure to be too stinky so I bought Unjury unflavored powder. 21 g per big scoop. It truly does not have a taste. So far I've used it in soy milk and V-8 juice which my NUT suggested we drink 6-8 oz of daily for its hydration/electrolyte benefits. Best of luck to you!

That V-8 idea is FANTASTIC! So much so, I also got some Clamato, and added the unflavored Protein powder (and my powdered Calcium citrate!!!) to it, and WOW, was that good! 60 calories per 8 ounces, 12 carbs. What a really great change of pace, and it just hits that spot! Thanks for the idea!

I have probably spent a couple hundred in Protein Powder. My stomach now retches at any Protein powder I try. I can maybe get in only one shake a day. I have been living off of popsicles and sorbet just so I don't pass out. I know my surgeon is going to be mad Monday but I'm trying.

How are you with the unflavored Protein Powder? Does it bother you, as well? If so, I'm thinking you may have a serious intolerance of whey, and may have to find an alternate source for Protein. Soy (tofu), pea, and others are out there, maybe do a google search. Have you tried any alternatives yet? How are they on your new tummy? I guess I would call you NUT to see if they have any suggestions for you. All the best to you....

Tried it and I swear it has a flavor. I do not know if it's maybe intolerance to whey or something else.

Yes, even though they don't flavor it (hence the "unflavored" description of the product), there definitely is one! It sure sounds like you have an intolerance to it. Maybe call your NUT for suggestions. There are other types of Protein out there. Let us know what you find out and figure out what is good for you, if you don't mind. Thanks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
