Hello,

I am new here but have been lurking for a while. I am sure that I want to have Gastric Sleeve done in Mexico but uncertain about the surgeon. Since I will be self pay, cost is definitely a factor. I was really interested in Dr. Ramos Kelly but the $2999 price is very appealing. I wish I could find more reviews on Dr. Mayterena or Dr. Arellano with Longterm VSG. Anyone else use these doctors or find more reviews for them?

@@Tonileigh, when I talked to the coordinator he mentioned that Dr. Arellano worked alongside Dr. Aceves for some years before he passed away and learned his technique from him. If you do a search in the forums for Dr. Aceves, you will see that a lot of people loved him and said he was the best so I'm confident in thinking that Dr Arellano is very competent. I actually came across a girl on YouTube that just went through LongTerm VSG, she only has 3 videos right now and they are relatively short but she does share her experience, her videos are here.

I've only seen a handful of reviews for Dr M but everything I've seen has been positive. I'll definitely be going through them.

Please let me say that for anyone who is on the fence about going with LongTerm......do it. I am not an advertisement for this place but I will say that as a patient who has the worst of the worst hypothyroidism, no metabolism, no energy, no drive, and just had plain given up.....they gave me a new life and you will not regret it.

I haven't felt good like this since high school. Don't let this pass you by. I wake up each day ready to take it on like a champ because LongTerm gave me my confidence back and helped me remember that I am in control.

I'm considering Dr. Arellano. Anyone here had him? I'm torn between this and another option. My main worry is that it is a clinic and the hospital they work with is 5 minutes away. I know complications are rare but this is what is holding me back. Arellano seems to have good credentials but I'm wondering who has had him and what their experience was. am now looking at early June for surgery. Probably with no companion :(

It is NOT a clinic, it's a surgery suite. All they do there is surgery, so they are highly trained. The care they give and u will recieve is top notch and very individualized. At a hospital, one nurse has 10 patients! The fact that this was a surgery center actually made me feel 100% more comfy with choosing LongTerm, and I work in the medical field, in NY!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
