May Sleevers...where are you?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Thursday May 21 with Dr. Eric Sommer at Hudson Valley Hospital. Today I'm 2 days post-op and I'm now beginning to feel some gas pains. I still don't know what my limit is but I seem to tolerate Water and my Protein Shakes pretty well. Just not a lot of either. No nausea thank goodness. And I seem to be able to take the same sips as I did before surgery. How's everyone else doing?

yeah gas pain is probably the most annoying for me to so far, walking does help that. I'm 3 days post today, glad surgery is done with tho huh!? I'm also just doing sips of Water, today was my first full day home, it took me about an hour to drink about 5 oz broth sipping of course. Day by day it all gets a little better :)
That seems to be my problem. It's taken me 8 hours to get through a 16oz bottle of water and 6oz of Protein. I'm catching naps in between. Seems like I'm on the hospital schedule still lol.

I'm May 26th! Any other Massachusetts sleevers? I've got some nerves about just having surgery in general but I'm excited! Also, anybody under 24 or so getting the sleeve soon? It's weird for me to be getting it at 23 when I haven't met anyone else as young who is!

It's so close! I'm freaking out and trying to distract myself so I don't totally panic. I'm excited though.

Hello May Sleevers! I was sleeved on May 19th, I also did away with pain meds except Tylenol which helped just fine for the first day or so, walking helps relieve the gas pains. I also find it hard to get the full 64 oz of Water but getting more in each day. Yesterday i got in 60 oz, I was so proud of myself. I find that hots go down easier, and mornings are the roughest but once you start drinking it gets better. The night I was released my pressure got really high, but they took me off my blood pressure medicine, so I called my doctor and he said your body just has to adjust and put me back on them for now and I am doing great. I do recommend rolling down your underwear or getting hip undies for mine were laying in my creases where my incisions are and that did cause some discomfort yesterday, at first I thought I did something in my sleep, but now I roll down my pants below the belly button and o boy what a difference. My follow up is on June 5th, trying not to weigh myself until then! I get to start full liquids tomorrow, so excited.

My surgery is May 26, tomorrow and am on Clear Liquids now. I think green sugar free Jello is so bad. Way to sweet. I guess it will be broth all day. So glad to be getting this done. At times I wonder if I have made the right decision. I am sure I will regret it later in the week. But will try to keep my eye on the prize. The prize being a healthier, happier, thinner me.

Good luck to everybody else going in tomorrow! I'm having a little cold feet, I've never had surgery before and it's scary, but reading this site has helped me get even more excited. My doc didn't make me do clear liquids before, but my dinner tonight will be a nice broth.

Sleeved on the 20th... I have to say since surgery- its been going by with a blink of an eye.... each day is a learning experience (hot drink, cold drink, too fast, too big of a spoonful...). I was crazy nervous up until surgery (even laying in pre op)...but I am so glad I did it. What a crazy ride this has been.. looking forward to each day!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
