Recommended Posts

Well it's done. The whole experience was fantastic. Had more pain last night than on surgery day..but they say that is normal. Home now eating everything liquid that has Protein in it. It's gonna be a good day.

Wow I had mine on 2/23 and I'm writhing in pain still. I can't believe how painful this really is. Maybe I need to call my doctor for stronger painkillers or something. Drinking, sitting, walking and laying down all hurt so I'm in a constant state of pain that just varies in its intensity.

My pain is cramping in nature... over all not really horrible. Thank God for that. I am over all happy with my progress. I was expecting much worse.

Did/Do either of you have any nausea immediately after the surgery or is it just pain? I am scared out of my mind of being sick to my stomach everyday...does that happen to everyone and does it go away at some point..???

I had some very very mild nausea. Took the zofran twice after surgery to make sure I wouldn't want to hurl. The sensation never came back.

I'm lucky I never pushed my pain pump in the hospital and never took any pain meds, didn't even get the prescription filled for the liquid pain meds because they made me sick to my stomach in the hospital when the nurse had me take it! I haven't felt nausea since I had my surgery which was 12/12. Good luck!

I had an RNY on the 19th. It was excruciating and I'm Still in pain. I was given Percocet at the hospital because I was in south pain. But they sent me home with Tramacet. That was too mild. I had to go to my GP and get more Percocet. This was my first major surgery, so maybe I wasn't prepared for the pain or I have a low pain tolerance. I was worried about having a complication but the nurses assured me that I was ok and that everyone is different.

My postop has not been ideal. I've had many surgeries unfortunately this one is the roughest but I'm also a mother of six and don't get the proper rest. liquids went down fine purée find I'm was even allowed solids 12 days out. Doctors were very happy with incisions and progress weight loss of 28 pounds main incision where stomach came out of it very painful and I am having a lot of back pain that I've spoke to the doctor I've spoke to others on the site they say it's normal some have it some don't guess it's just my luck. Two days ago after 500ml oh liquid Vicodin and extreme pain I returned to surgeon in pain he sent me to er and I do have adhesions / scar tissue large bulge under and around area of that incision. I and 23 days out now and still unable to sleep on either side bend take care if kids properly and I'm down 35 lbs but very unhappy with pain. Unfortunately as a mom I didn't expect to be like this since this is my 12th surgery, besides neck and wisdom teeth all others done same way lapo in abdomen area so I'm shocked and frustrated!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
