Recommended Posts

Hello...I am just beginning my weight loss surgery journey. What should I expect at my initial appointment with the surgeon? Thank you!

The doc will explain each surgery offered, like the mechanics of each and how it works, and also take a medical history in order to recommend which procedure or procedures would be best for you.

Also he gave me a chance to ask any questions I might have. I had already researched which method I wanted and he agreed it was the best choice for me.

My first appointment was 4 hours long and included a (paid up front) session with a psychiatrist for clearance PRIOR to my being seen by the surgeons PA (whom I adored). I had already pre filed my new patient paperwork (internet) and they already had my insurance requirments and coverage options prior to my walking in the door. Had I not met all the requirements, I would not have been able to schedule that 1st appt. After the Psyc eval, I saw the PA and discussed the surgical options and what I wanted for myself, I saw the nutrition and excersise staff for full evals and then was off for bloodwork, a sleep study and a mammo (yup ...and ouch) .... it was busy and confusing and thrilling and I am so so glad I did it!!!! Good luck to you!!

Mine asked if I found the seminar helpful., what surgery I was interested in and why, went over my medical history and diet history. She also took a look at my stomach to make sure she wouldn't have any obstacles during surgery. She gave me a list of diet changes to start making now because they would aid in the healing process. Then the patient coordinator came in to discuss my insurance requirements and steps to approval. I was also given my order for labs.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
