Recommended Posts

1. Can we puree shredded cheese with refried Beans

2. Do we have to puree salsa or can it be added after

3. Can we puree lettuce and Tomato with refried Beans for a Mexican dish

4. Can roast and potatoes be pureed?

5. What can't be pureed? Steak?

I was only told to not exceed 10g sugar or 10g fat during a meal.

Your stomach is a newborn. Think carefully what you pureed. Didn't they tell you no red meat for now? Protein only? I have a document in my blog that can help

My surgeon's guidelines are full of mixed messages. They said no red meat for a while but then also said I could blend meatballs during purees. It all depends on the surgeon.

Maybe they mean turkey meatballs?

My puree stage specifically said no raw vegetables or big pieces of steak/pork because those are harder to digest.

Ground beef, chicken, turkey & fish were all ok. My NUT also said that you didn't "have to" puree everything, such as the meat... you could chew it 30-50 times to make it mushy enough in your mouth to go down easily with no "chunks". And if you eat those meats, make sure you have some kind of sauce or liquid with them to go down easier.

Some of my favorites during puree were roasted carrots in the oven till very soft, Beans, and ground beef w/ salsa & cheese.

My NUT also said mashed potatoes were "ok" (not everyday though) & best if made homemade with chicken broth instead of milk.

Those were some of my instructions! Good luck!

No, they gave me a recipe for ground beef and refried Beans. But I was wondering if puree-ing some shredded cheese with it would be OK. Also the salsa. Does it have to be pureed

@@monopoly2015 I was allowed cheese in my food. My nutritionist referred to cheese as a liquefier. I could add a slice of my fat free cheese or a laughing cow wedge to my scrambled egg. It's a good way to add Protein to those refried Beans :-)

I didn't have any red meat restrictions, but ground beef pureed up better than roast. I DID puree roast, though - it was a little too rough for my stomach and my blender just couldn't do a good enough job with it so it stayed kinda grainy. Whatever your take on potatoes, they do make whatever meat you blend a little smoother.

I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to puree lettuce :)

Red meat is very harsh on the stomach and takes forever to process. If you are having trouble, you may want to push that back a fews weeks. You kind of want to make it easy for your tummy and esophagus to heal. It takes 6-8 weeks for the swelling to go down.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
