Anyone ever know of a woman who was unable to get a much, much needed abortion, who committed suicide? I do.

I didn't watch the video because I probably do not have the stomach for it.

It's not gory at all. There are no photos of anything abortion-related at all. It's all voice recordings and typed text. You should watch it.

Anyone know of women who have been beaten or murdered because they're pregnant? I do.

Every woman's situation is not ideal for bringing a child into the world... Some women would not choose abortion; some women (like the girl who committed suicide) should not.

Tripod, I see that you are new, so I will suppress my first impulse to scold you for such a rude post. This section of LBT is called "Rants and Raves" and it means ANY subject can be discussed, no matter how far removed from lap band issues. Everyone has a right to state their opinion and should never be told to "shut up". You can disagree all you want and you can debate and discuss, but please don't make a judgment that "no one wants to hear your views" just because they don't jibe with yours. We all get to express ourselves here.

Tripod65 was completely out of line and owes you an apology. There are some women who have been on this thread for a very long time (for Eg BJean) and although I do not agree with much of anything she says she has never been rude or disrepectful to anyone even if they have very differing opinions. My hat is off to her and others who can logically and sometimes even emotionally debate this topic yet maintain their respect for others and their opinions. Tripod you do not belong on this topic because obviously you have an inability to repectfully and intelligently convey your point of view! You owe L8BloomR an apology or stay out of this thread!

Thank you, Tink, I appreciate your back-up. Just to clarify, Tripod was speaking to Power396 and I was responding to his rude post. But no matter who he was addressing, your response was perfect and I agree wholeheartedly! Thank you again for your thoughtful post.

I have to respectfully say that tripod was just expressing his (or her?) opinion too. It is Rants 'n Raves, afterall, and sometimes some posters have such inflamatory and offensive ways of expressing their very biased views, they're practically begging for an aw... "shut up" response. I think it just slips out, as if we were speaking face to face. We might want to take it back but it's too late. That's the whole point of this site, we don't have to take stuff back, we can rant and rave and slug it out all we want. No one is forced to participate in any way.

Thanks very much for your kind words tink. I do enjoy Rants 'n Raves even though I can become way too passionate sometimes and go overboard. This is a subject that is very important to me - as important as it is to those who have the other viewpoint, like you and LBloom. I find it impossible to NOT participate, in fact. I'm drawn back into this thread almost every week. Nothing really changes, but I can't help myself. I witnessed too much heartbreak and insanity when abortion was illegal. I can't abide the idea of women having politicians and others make decisions for them about their lives and those of their unborn children.

I too am just as passionate about this topic as you are and I have read every single post to this thread. Like I said I do appreciate your intelligent approach to a very emotional topic and although it is rants and raves I dont believe that anyone should ever take a rude approach to such a serious topic. So you see BJean we finally found something we can agree on! I appreciate you and your insight even though you nor I will ever come over to the others side. His rude response really in the scope of things has very little effect on this topic (thank God)! I think people like you and I are the ones who will be most influential to anyone who may be on the fence! Thank you for being who you are!

Great, great post Tink! I agree with you that even in Rants and Raves, there are basic rules of engagement. I believe Tripod broke them in his inflammatory remarks.

BJean, you and I have respectfully done battle many, many times yet we have never told each other to "shut up" or go away or that no one wants to hear the other. The moderators on LBT have chastized others (and suspended some) for saying similiar things and I was just educating Tripod about the rules on this forum. No matter how someone feels about a subject, there is no reason to be so harsh or nasty. IMHO....

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
