Gaining weight back

Recommended Posts

Hi I lost 120 pounds on weight watchers and gained every pound back. It took me a year to lose it and a year to gain it all back. I got tired of measuring and counting points for my food. It became stressful especially when I got into a relationship. My family got so tired of hearing me say oh my God I ate to much now I have to work out for two hours. My only fear is that I don't want history to repeat itself once I have the WS surgery. I have one more weight in next month before my Doctor submit my paper work to my insurance company. Also I know WS have a plan as well but it don't seem to be stressful and my boyfriend is supporting me even though he don't agree

You're not alone - the vast majority of people who lose weight with diets end up gaining it all back. Our bodies have ways of making us fail - we get hungrier after dieting for a while, and our metabolisms slow down.

Statistically, your chances of long-term success are much better with bariatric surgery. It's true that not everyone succeeds, but I think the fact that you've been so successful with dieting in the past will work in your favor. You've proven that you can make changes to your diet and stick with them for a good while. The surgery will help curb your hunger, at least for a while, and you'll make the changes to your diet that you'll stick with long-term. As long as you make good choices and stay on track you and the benefits of the surgery should help you find success.

I wish you the best!

I had my surgery December 29. Before I had the surgery I tried everything, and was quite successful on things from Jenny Craig to Slim Fast. The problem was, like you, I gained it all back. That's why I decided to do the weight loss surgery. This is amazing I get full very quickly and as soon as I'm full my desire to eat goes away. This is much different than a diet and I'm sure we'll both be very successful!!!!

Look at you...gorgeous! What is your boyfriend's perspective on weight loss surgery? I'm just curious because my husband is completely against it. Of course I'm still going to do it though.

I had lost 44 pounds on Atkins diet in 1 year, and it took me like 6 months to gain it all back....

I want my gastric sleeve to just kill the relapse factor! Planning to get the sleeve done in feb, I want that weight to never ever come back. But I still have pregnancy left, I m 29 i will get pregnant in the coming years... Will that be my relapse period? I don't know.

I have around 100 pounds to be lost????????????

For me being sleeved has saved my life . I was headed down towards an early death. Yep I had lost weight on diets and gain it back plus. Being sleeved is giving me a chance to take control of my eating habits. This takes work but it is worth the effort. I am not at goal but I am keeping it moving.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
