Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

Recommended Posts

I have to get some plain yogurt today. Either kind (Greek or regular) will definitely make me gag, and mixing in baby food fruits or applesauce doesn't help. Has anyone ever mixed in flavored Protein powder? I'm nervous it will be some gross consistency? I don't want to test it out and pitentially waste it all.

How do you spice up your yogurts? NUT said extracts are ok as well. Anyone use those?

:)

I like plain greek yogurt with one Splenda packet mixed in. I would say it is definitely an acquired taste. Do you have to have plain? There are lots of flavors of light greek yogurts available.

My way is probably not the best way but it worked really well for me. I put in some sugar free jello!!

It was the only way I could eat it without putting fruit in it.

It is weird the way different clinics require differnt things. I was allowed a light blended yogurt. They were flavored, sugar free and NO fruit pieces in them. I used Yoplaits thick and creamy light.

My fav is to mix flavored grrek yogurt with oatmeal. Reminds me of cake frosting. One needs to mix it in the night before eat so that it can absorb the moisture.

You could mix in unsweetened cocoa powder. Or they have these packets at the store in the baking isle they use to flavor frosting (Duncan Haines brand I believe) which you can add to the yogurt, there is very little sugar in the Packets because they are supposed to be added to frosting which has a lot of sugar. Good luck :)

I have mixed plain greek nonfat yogurt with just about everything. SF hot chocolate, Protein powders, SF puddings. It'll be fine. Just add a little at a time so you don't overdo it.

Good ideas everyone!!!

My office has GB patients start two weeks prior to surgery eat like they will have to post-op for 3-4 months, to get us ready. That's why the no sugars low fat :)

I have never been a fan of yogurt period. And it sucks now cause the greek yogurt has so much Protein but no matter what brand I buy it's a no go. My husband and daughter LOVE yogurt, I just have never been a fan.

In fact just the other day I tried another brand, and was like nope. I figure I can eat only such little amounts that I am going to eat food I enjoy. I am almost 11 weeks out and I think I have done pretty good so far without the yogurt. Grant it it would be nice because of the smooth consistency and high Protein, but I just can't.

Good Luck with your yogurt, I hope you find something that works, there are a lot of great suggestions on this thread already!! :)

I bought some sugar free Torani syrups because I've seen it suggested a lot, I haven't tried it in yogurt yet but they are good in plain Protein powder. But in the past I have flavored the yogurt with extracts as well and it is good, you can find a lot of flavors usually on the baking aisle, orange, lemon, mint, vanilla, coffee. I hit them up when they are on bogo haha.

I've added SF pudding mix to my plain yogurt and it's pretty good. Just a little goes along way.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
