Thanks ! Was curious I read on the boards sometimes people experience gallbladder attacks and end up with gallstones. My surgeon said in the 90's when they did the surgeries the norm was to take the gallbladders out automatically now they don't only if there s seems to big an issue.

Part of my pre op appointment this week was a gall bladder ultrasound. If it showed any signs of issues, my surgeon would have taken it out. Mine was good, so I keep it, but my surgeon is putting me on a gall bladder medicine to prevent stones since like 40% of RNY patients experience gall bladder issues during the rapid weight loss.

Thanks for the info Crosby! I'm hoping that getting this weight off first will help me push the hip further out...it hurts pretty bad so we will see.

So excited for you GAWildKat!

Good luck to all the Feb. 9th peeps!????

My surgery was 4 days ago. I stayed in the hospital and extra day because I was having some nasuea the day I was supposed to go home. Overall the pain isn't terrible. I don't have a lot of pain until I stand up. Could be everything shifting again after laying down. Under my doctor's advise I am taking tylonal in the place of a pain killer. I have Oxycodone for times where it gets pretty bad but I am trying to avoid that as much as I can.

Do anyone else have that pain while standing? It kind of feels like cramps all over my stomach.

I do, from rhe incisions stretching a bit. Today I walked 3000 steps, my shoes are killing my feet lol. Waiting on my husband to finish checking out at Sams then limp off to the conversion van parked in the outer reaches of the Sam's universe.

I had surgery Feb 5th. The gas pain has been the worst. My incisions hurt more today. I had a lot of nausea in the hospital. Have only taken 1 pain pill at home. It's hard to swallow without causing gas :(

I have to drink 5 ozs every hour for 12 hours.

Just got home from the hospital. The nausea was terrible yesterday and this morning but the pain isn't too bad. So happy to be home.

congrats to all of you new to the losers bench! Personally since I started preop diet I feel like time has stopped. I am soooo excited for the 17th to get here. I feel like I have everything I need for at the hospital. Any ideas for what to have on hand for after I am home. I will be on a full liquid diet once discharged. Thanks for any advice you might have.

Thanks for the info V8 is a great idea and I like it :) glad you are doing so great. I am so nervous yet so excited. This preop diet sucks. I just keep reminding myself it is all part of the bigger picture. The 17th cannot come soon enough.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
