How much is too much?

If you guys experience an episode of BP'ing ...

how long do you do liquids before going back and trying to eat?

At times experienced PB'ing - thought is was more or less due to what I was eatting or not chewing it well before swallowing. I haven't been going back to liquids if I experience and eposiode - SHOULD I?

I do not eat before 2 or 3 in the afternoon as only liquids will go down. Does anyone else have this schedule daily?

I can PB when I drive...yep multi tasking ... going down the road - cup in hand.

Loosing right at a pound a week, thought I had FINALLY found my green/sweet spot - now I am beginning to ask if I am getting tighter or just inflammed.

ANY suggestions?

I also can not eat until mid afternoon...i have read that alot of other people do as well. I was banded 11/2014 and it has been a learning process! I can eat a turkey/chicken burger (just the patty) but not mashed spuds! Definitely have to eat slow, tiny bites. And i drink Water right up to the min i start to eat. Also Protein Bars are my go to. Have never had a episode after eating one. I know this may not be a ton of help, but you are not alone out there! I think we all just have to figure out what works best with our band. ;)

Yup that's still me. My lunch is at 1pm. Breakfast is coffee or Protein Shake. Avoid liquids before and after eater. The tighter u get the more time you should wait. When I was at my tightest I would stop liquids 1 hour before eating and 2 hour after.

@BeachBish. It's too tight and it's going to keep getting irritated/imflammed. Change ur foods. Don't eat things that get you there. After PB episodes go back on liquids. Protein Shakes. I went thru that for 2 months, I lost alot of weight but was miserable and end up in hospital due to dehydration. Go remove just a bit and work ur way up again. As for me, I would never want my band to be that tight ever again.

XOXOXO!!! THANK YOU for the sweet responses. I feel like I just got a great big hug over the internet - saying "It's going to be ok". Truly Thank you for responding and letting me know i am not alone.

I think I do need to get a tad removed...it's scary now that I've FIANLLY gotten to here - I feel like I might stop loosing if I have some removed. Maybe I will be able to make better choices.

Seems with my band what I can eat one day I can't the next. One day chicken will go down if cooked moist and not dried out, the next day I can't eat it.

I pretty much live on nachos- chips and dip - mexican beef/cheese dip with tostedos,

Soup

sweet potatoes

1 ONE chicken wing - takes me about 30 min to eat to get it to go down

grits

grits and shrimp - MY FACV....but i know alot of these items are not the best choices.

I don't feel like I eat enough meat, but I get about 50 grams of Protein in with drinks and bars.

I will sip some while eating sometimes... how do you know when NOT to drink an hour before you eat?

I'm good with Protein Drinks and Protein Bars...the wafer ones are my favorite as they go down easier.

I'd love to know items you eat on a daily bases. d

Thanks again for the reply.

PROUD of your success and weight loss!

BeachBish after reading your post I thought I should have wrote it. I have the exact same issues. I am currently just trying to do Protein Drinks and Water until my band decides to behave. Am I being borderline "disorderish" if I sort of want my band this tight right now? I have gone on a 3 month no weight loss and now it is this tight. I am trying the Protein route and hoping this will give me some pounds lost. I wish you lived in Az. We could support eachother!! Xoxoxo

Ok I have had my band since 2008. I had my last fill a few years ago. After I got that last fill I was very tight. This is a slippery slope. I went years before I got the courage to go to a doctor and find out if every thing is ok. One doctor told me I needed a fill because I wasn't tight enough. I told him I wanted a deflate because I was throwing up liquids. He did give me a deflate...I instantly felt better, lost 5lbs (not instantly but in about a week) and had more energy. It's a slippery slope because I ended up eating easy food that made me gain weight. I found a different more caring doctor and my pouch was overlapping my band so they took more out. Don't be like me, if you are only able to get liquids down more then likely you are too tight. You want to be able to eat healthy foods like good Proteins and vegetables and fruits.

I have lived with a very tight band for way too long. Pb'ing became a way of life for me. When it got to the point that I couldn't get my much needed medications down or they got stuck in my esophagus and hot inflamed, I finally realized enough was enough. I went in for a slight unfill and had 0.6cc taken out. It was the greatest feeling ever! But..... I have gained 12lbs and am able to eat more food and am also not feeling as full between my meals. So the jig is up and I will be making an appointment to have a little out back in. A compromise with my band. And I will see how that works.

I still can pb at this point but only if I take too big a bite or not chew enough.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
