Okay so I finished my 6 months pre-surgery requirements. Ready for a surgery date only to receive a call from the scheduler to tell me that my lab work shows my Protein levels are too low and they have to wait a month to retest and now it looks like I won't have my surgery until February...I feel like crying. Will I ever get this surgery???

Have patience with the reality that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. :-)

This is exactly what happened to me but it was due to my diabetes. I cried when the doctor told me I had to get my diabetes under control. My surgery was postponed for 3 months... But it went by so fast I am literally now 36 hours away from my surgery on Monday. Use this time to prepare yourself that's what I did...

I have 12 months of pre-surgery requirements and at first I thought that this length of time was extremely too long and that I wasn't going to succeed. I am currently in month 10, I have exceeded the requirements of my insurance company and I feel great! I had to come to the realization that 12 months compared to being slimmer and healthier for the rest of my life doesn't even compare! Always look at the glass being halfway full and never halfway empty! ;-)

@yiggy thank you for that info, it really helps to know that I'm not alone.

It's hard when you see others that started at the same time you did already losing weight and healed from surgery when you run into roadblocks that slow you down. I've been at this since June, and I finally think I might have the surgery...but insurance and other occurrences keep moving the goalpost. SOO frustrating!

But the good thing is...if I ever had doubts about whether or not I should be doing this, they've long since dissipated. Now all I have is focus. I can't help but feel it will make it easier to succeed.

I'm done being depressed about the wait because in a way it does give me more time to be sure if this is really what I want to do, and it is. I appreciate the insurance company giving me 6 months to prepare myself physically and mentally. Got to look on the bright side.

I restarted my pre-op journey 15 months ago. My surgeon gave me a tentative date of Dec. 2013, sice I had gone through all the preims almost two years previously. Then my endo told me she wouldn't approve me for surgery until I got my sugar under control. Which led to my year long supervised weight loss expiring, so I had to start that over again. A year ago, I talked a lot about the surgery to a very dear friend of mine, and she decided to go for it as well. She had her surgery in July of last year. I still don't have a surgery date. It's pretty frustrating. However, I know that, barring any unforeseen thing, I will eventually have the surgery. It'll happen. I just need to be patient and learn everything that I can so I'll be ready when it does.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
