celebrex for for rheumatoid arthritis and the weight loss surgery

Recommended Posts

has anybody taken celebrex right before and after the surgery? I have to come off of Enbrel for my RA but my Rheumatologist said celebrex should be ok, I'm guessing that he's not thinking of ulcers. I'm confirming that with the surgeon but just wanted to know if anybody else has taken it during the process.

Hi,

I've been taking celebrex since a year prior to surgery and apart from a couple days just after surgery when I couldn't take the pills, I've been on two per day with no ulcers. realise your fears, but I weighed up the pain that I know I am in - almost can't walk... to the small risk of ulcers.. and I take the pills. I'm over two years out now..

Thanks Selena, do you take it for RA? I just spoke to my PA at the Bariatric center...and she said that when we get closer to the date, they'll adjust it to not taking it for 3days before rather than the normal 7 days. And I can start taking 3 days after, but with a nexium or something.

Hi,

Yes, I have RA in my knee joints - also I have merlagia paresthetica in my legs which gives me a lot of pain when I don't take my meds. Have had this for a few years.

3 days will hopefully be manageable for you. Try not to think about it too much, or it might play on your mind and you will be more aware of niggles than you otherwise would be.

I wish you well with your surgery - you won't regret it! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
