I am an advocate of Smooth Move tea. Now that my body is used to the tea, the results are predictable. For some reason the other night I thought to try some dulcolax....bad move. Within 15 minutes I was in the bathroom doubled over with cramps and dry heaving. Never again.

Milk of magnesia works like a charm for me.

My doctor's RN has placed me on a daily pill of Peri-Colace. I take it in the evening with plenty of fluids. If I still have issues I dissolve a packet of Miralax with a drink during the day. But I will also add a little amount of prune juice to my cold drinks. Just a splash but I am going to add flax seed powder and insoluble Fiber ASAP because lots of people have reported to like it. I was in such trouble I wasn't willing to see what worked. Not taking a chance. Yes, it was that bad. Still it is 5 days to a week per BM and I went daily before surgery.

After the Miralax and Ducolax, I finally took a full 4T of milk of magnesia. Finally got things moving. I am going to take a small dose of MoM every day for a couple nights and then go back to the Miralax daily. Don't ever want to go thru that again. Also I must be sure to drink my Water even if circumstances are hard. We are visiting away from home for the holidays with the usual busy schedule of running around. Now carrying a water bottle everywhere. Thanks everyone for your help.

For a more natural approach, try baby food prunes. It is smooth, goes down easy, doesn't taste bad, and is effective. I have had great success with this, every time I get "uncomfortable". Good luck!

For me it's been my only issue since being sleeved. I have tried a variety of options but ultimately find that laxatives every 3-5 days works for me. Note to others don't take them the night before a flight.

My doctor put me on colace stool softener in the hospital and for 30 days post op. Thankfully I had my first BM 2 days after discharge and have been regular ever since. It's getting even better now that I am back on regular food. Occasionally I will even go twice a day!

Hi,

Here's my Constipation home remedy using apple juice with other fruit. Eat it the first thing in the morning before Breakfast.

In a blender, put in a cup of fresh apple juice. Add equal amounts of dry or fresh figs and raisins and a small organic apple. Choose how many figs and raisins to use. You will need to experiment a little. Get a consistency that is not too thick. Add a little more apple juice if needed.

Eat this home remedy for a few days until you start to get some relief from your constipation.

P.S. I want to share with you a simple and inexpensive remedy for the occasional constipation that’s worked for me and many others. - See more at: http://fullnomore.com

Two Colace kind of "broke loose" all the post-op medication induced backup - once things started moving again, I've been fine since.

Prunes all the way!!

I never had a desire to eat them, but they are my friends now. I will usually eat 4 to 5, and within a couple of hours, I have a BM.

I'm 1 year out and still have Constipation issues. I've been to a GI and take lactulose daily along with a few prunes and fiber. Still an ongoing problem ...

I've been taking Colon Cleanse, which I get at Trader Joes, and it's worked wonderfully for me. It comes in gel capsules, so I can take as much or little as needed. The recommended dose is 4 caps 3 times a day, which in my body would be tantamount to a nuclear explosion, so I do around 2 or 3 in the am and pm, and things have been moving nicely.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
