Abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia repair tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

So glad you are doing well - Can I ask, why can you never lift more than 35lbs?

I have had a hernia repaired (twice) and nobody ever told me not to lift over a certain weight, and even after my TT (No muscle repair due to hernia mesh there) they did not mention any lifting restrictions.......

Take care of yourself, it took me like 6 weeks before all the swelling was gone after my TT

@@sassy14 - Very exciting! Best wishes on your surgery and may you recover quickly! Question, why aren't they rebuilding a new belly button? I'm just curious. :)

Scamp-- as I understand it, the muscles are weakened as a result of the hernias. Dr yesterday reiterated the ban on lifting and on straining (constipation) because it can undo his good work.

Lilmis- apparently replacing the belly button is very difficult as there can be insufficient blood flow which can lead to infection. The way I figure it, I can get a tattoo if I want!

Thanks for that - I had mine fixed first time with sutures - Second time with mesh - Maybe that is why I was not told anything about lifting - Cos mesh is strong - Who knows

Anyways -- Good luck with your recovery and look after yourself

Thanks! I had mesh this time too-- I'm not sure why I have such a restriction--maybe a super cautious doc!

Absolutely that makes a lot of sense. Def don't want any infections. I've had them and they really suck to put it bluntly.. Best wishes to you and your recovery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
