Sleeved on 12/16-Very Sore

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

It was great to see that there is an active support forum for Sleevers! I was sleeved (with minor hiatal hernia repair) last Tuesday, 12/16. I am still extremely sore, especially in the lower left portion of my stomach. How long did it take most of you to return to feeling "normal" (in terms of pain/soreness/discomfort)? I am doing well with liquid, and working on Protein.< /span>

Thanks for any feedback and looking forward to participate in the group!

Spooney

Hello! I was sleeved on the 16th and have very similar soreness, but in my right side. It's getting better day by day :).

I too was sleeved on the 16th and have lots of soreness on my left side. Like ProjectMe, I've noticed each day getting better. What I'm struggling with now is being gassy after drinking my Protein. It isn't painful, just uncomfortable and the gas x strips aren't helping much :(

I was sleeved nine days ago and finally able to walk around without having to hold up the right side of my belly to avoid that painful stretchy feeling. Sometimes if I've been too active that day (I have a bad habit of not listening to my body when I need to rest) it'll get sore and I have to go back to holding it. Also if I sneeze or cough or laugh too much it'll start hurting again and I'll have to hold it as I walk for a little while that day. Stopped taking regularly pain meds on day 5-ish. Hope you feel better!

Was sleeved on the 8th and I'm only sore on bottom right side of tummy below the longer incision. My back is also sore from sleeping on it. I've only had children's Tylenol for pain 3 times total. I just wish I had some energy.

@@Spooney

terrific that you don't have any problems drinking

Water is more important than Protein at this point

all people heal differently

one person might start to feel better in a day or two

another person might take anywhere from 1, 2 weeks til............

i was sleeved december 15th

i am still not normal!!!

LOL

feel better soon

good luck

kathy

I had unbearable incision pain for the first week or so, then it gradually got better. My surgeon said it was due to the internal stitches and the pain would lessen as the stitches dissolved. The first week was excruciating and I couldn't wash my hair, put on socks, get out of a chair to roll over in bed without crying out in pain. But it did get better and now (two weeks out) I only have a twinge of discomfort if I twist too fast or lift something wrong. It will get better, just baby yourself for several days! :-)

Perhaps try prilosec or omeprazole, both can be purchased OTC.

I was only a little sore post-op and pretty much back to normal in about 5 days.

THANK YOU to all of you who responded! I am happy to hear that this is nothing to worry about. I am already a bit better. I guess I got concerned when I saw that others were up and about and doing (somewhat) regular activity by day 5, and I was still in need of occasional pain meds.

I am SO APPRECIATIVE of the helpful people in this forum, and plan to participate often. Thanks again! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
