Got My Date! January 6. Anyone else on or around that date?

  • Popular Post

Got the call today. I hate to say it but this is as bad as a child waiting for Christmas! Three weeks are gonna take forever to get here. Was so hoping to have it by years end but they said that there were several people who's insurance would be terminated on January 1st so they wanted to try to get them all in first. Oh well, the important thing is I was approved and have a date. This just gives me more time to loose a few extra pounds and shrink the liver. Lol Good luck to all those who have their surgery between tomorrow and the end of the year. Chime in and let me know about your experiences. I would so like to hear about them.

I'm January 7. I have to start my liquid diet on 12/24/14. That really sucks. But I am willing to do it to get my life back on track! Good luck to all those having surgery in the future as well!

I noticed some of you have been prescribed a liquid diet prior to surgery. I've only been told the day before. What does your diet consist of and what's the rationale?

I have one week of greatly reduced calories and 2weeks of liquid diet. (So three weeks total.)

Aids in losing the MINIMUM 5% body fat and shrinks the liver so they can get to your stomach easier during surgery. It also helps kickstarts weightloss. I'm in day three and doing well! It's good to gear up and get myself into a new mindset! Every surgeon is very different for pre op requirements.

I'm like you, just liquids the day before! But I've started the diet anyway, just to get ready mentally.

Welcome! !! I'm on the 7th too. You'll have to keep me posted on your progress.

Sleevedmanda - I will keep you posted. Let me know how you are doing as well. Excited yet nervous.

January is getting closer and closer!! Ig:domo_vsg

I'm so excited, been working on my shopping list for post-surgery and "met" a surgery sister on here who is also scheduled for Jan 8th

I'm January 6 too!! Have my preop appt with surgeon on Monday the 29th and "Diet class" on the 31st to hear all about the preop diet which I will only have to do for a week.

This will be almost exactly 5 years to the day from when I got my lapband....which I had removed this June after many complications. Surgeon wouldn't do lapband to sleeve in one surgery due to the complications and needing my stomach to "rest." Since June I have gained 80 pounds...out of control I know. Insane!

I can not wait to start this new journey. I'm making a shopping list now and feel somewhat overwhelmed and a little underprepared.

I'm having my band removed add sell, almost the same timing too. Removing band and having sleeve same day. December 31, 2007. HW:275 LW:(lapband)158 CW:246

I am January 6th also!! I had to start my liquid diet two weeks prior to surgery so I am on it now! Wish everyone the best and please say a few prayers for all that have to be on this liquid diet! I'm in for the win though!!!

My date is January 27 and it seems like it's taking forever! I am excited and scared all at the same time.

I think I have the tendency to forget this is a pretty major surgery. That I will have pain, discomfort, be in the hospital for a couple of nights, and question why in the world did I do this to myself?!? I live in a bubble of thinking I'm just going to take a nap and wake up skinny. HA!

I know exactly how you feel, txprincess. I keep asking myself if I am doing the right thing. Worrying about the pending surgery (Jan. 6) , about being in the hospital, about having only two more days of eating what I love, about eating right on the diet starting the day after Christmas, about getting everything organized for pre-op and post-op and the future in general is taking up all my thoughts.

Two weeks from today, the surgery part will be a major step behind me. Yeah! And then the next day of the rest of my life begins. Yeah!
