    January Sleevers ❄️

I went to my first support group meeting that is hosted at the surgery center where I had my surgery and it was great!! Like sitting in an actual room full of people from this site who are all in different stages of the process and had great feedback. I'm definitely planning to go again as it was similar but different than here. Just super encouraging!! Keep up the good work all us Losers! :-)

WOOHOO @ Eurogirl10!!! Happy for you!! Stay strong on liquid diet, it will make your surgery a lot easier on your surgeon + on you! You can do this!! I'm 11 days post-op and down 14 lbs :-)

Any suggestions for an app that tracks protein and liquid? I've looked and really only found some protein trackers.

Narcotic meds in any form will slow down the whole BM process, it will happen probably after you start reducing your pain meds (did for me)

@ Gendy, had my surgery on 1/8/15 and not hungry at all, just thirsty. I've set reminders on my phone to make myself eat 3 times a day.
  7. @ Fallinstar, I'm sorry you aren't feeling very well. Please remember we will all recover at our own speed and unfortunately you might not recover as quickly as some others. I am in that same boat right next to you! My incision sites don't hurt but the staples are itching and I don't have a follow-up till Wednesday. LOTS of pain every time I try to stand up, sit down, lay down. I thought about leaving the house and it is super freaking cold here in Kansas City and it makes my entire abdomen hurt so I haven't left the house yet and probably won't until my follow-up on Wednesday. As far as food goes, I'm just today starting to have a few teaspoons of creamed Soup and it gave me such bad gas, might be going back to Protein shakes for a few more days. I just keep telling myself that this will all be worth it in the end, just need to be patient and remember my health will be better for this. Hang in there! :-)

Cyr, you might try sugar free popsicles if you're thirsty but water sounds disgusting. My surgery was also Thursday 1/8 and SF popsicles are really what got me thru my first 2 post-op clear liquid only days. Hope you get feeling better soon!

    January Sleevers ❄️

Hi January Sleevers! Got my GSL on Thursday Jan 8th, came home on Friday Jan 9th. Did really well post-op at surgery center but have struggled with pain since I got home. I realize the gas situation takes time but can't seem to get comfortable to sleep where when I get up I'm not straining my stomach muscles. Tried my bed and my LazyBoy loveseat recliner + finally decided on loveseat. I know I just need to be patient + it will get better each day, but ugh. Hope everyone else is doing well!

I'm less than one day post-op and feeling great, no vomiting + very little nauseous :-) I think hardest part for me has been they couldn't find a vein for IV since I couldn't have anything (even water) after midnight the night before my surgery. I'm very thankful that I only had 1 week of liquid diet. and thankful my night nurse has been wonderful!! I've got a little bit of insomnia going on cuz it's strange bed, different noises + missing my dog. LOL, ok, enough of my pain med induced rambling for now, just trying to avoid an Etsy shopping binge! Take care everyone!

HELP, I have a crisis: our Controller wants to take our group for a late holiday lunch to Bravo!Cucina Italiana on Wednesday. Of course I have surgery on Thursday and Wednesday is my last work day for several weeks. I haven't given details on what surgery I'm having, it's private and I'm only a contractor but would love a regular job if they'd hire me. Do I just decline + appear anti-social, or go and eat like a chicken Caesar salad?

I completely agree with DaiDai, I've never been so FREAKING CRANKY in my entire life!! Today is day 3 of my liquid pre-op diet, 5 days till surgery and time can't go by fast enough!! Trying to stay positive, planning for low-key weekend at home . . . did all my shopping for what I'm taking with me to Surgery Center. I truly appreciate everyone sharing their journey on this site, it gives me hope + makes me feel better that the emotions + struggle that I'm feeling is completely normal!
  14. Hey, found the "VSG-Ten reasons not to have VSG Surgery" video on YouTube - this should be required watching for everyone considering surgery!! Thanks for recommending. Definitely can relate to all of these. My son just turned 18 years old and I weigh more now then I did when I was 9 months pregnant, walking into the hospital to deliver him. I've had periods of time where I've done really well and lost weight but then when I've stopped making weight loss my 110% top priority I gain it all back and the "bonus" 10 pounds each time it seems like . . . the vicious cycle! I'm still torn about what to tell my work - so far I've just said "I'm having surgery" and will be out 2 to 4 weeks. I'm tempted to stay gall bladder which could explain the change in diet but I'm also tempted to just say nothing. I have told my family and my small inner circle of friends but not shared it with 90% of my world. Don't know that I will but plan to take it as it comes. No matter my size, I am the same person inside - take me or leave me!

My surgery date is Jan 8th and I start my liquid diet on Jan 1st. Was hoping to squeeze surgery in December for insurance purposes but really happy + excited the timing has been working out the way it has. I think I'm close to finalizing my shopping list for post-surgery supplies and plan to shop this weekend as I know going to the grocery store while on a liquid diet will be treacherous conditions for me!!
  16. I'm so excited, been working on my shopping list for post-surgery and "met" a surgery sister on here who is also scheduled for Jan 8th
  17. I'm brand new to the site and this January sleevers group is perfect for me - I'm on January 8th! Excited, nervous, can't come soon enough for my bad knees! Great idea about getting the sectioned toddler plate Fallinstar - I will check that out for sure! I start my liquid diet on January 1st and of course today just got notice that we are having a late holiday lunch with our Executive on January 6th so I'm not sure I can drink a Protein drink while everyone else is eating and not make people feel uncomfortable. Might just opt for a salad . . . will keep thinking about that.
