My surgery is Dec. 29th. I've was not given a presurgery diet but am starting Protein Drinks and low-carb diet (20 grams a day) to adjust to post-surgery eating.

Me too! Started the preop diet today, but I'm allowed lean Protein and non-starchy veggies, so it's tolerable so far. I would kill for a banana right now! ????

Wow! I wonder why some have to do 14 day clear or 7 day clear or 2 day clear or what you are doing or either nothing. Makes me think that well, if I have some green Beans or a slice of lunch meat and chew really really good, it will be alright. I did great today to say the least but I work at a school and THEY will have staff parties during tests Wed - Fri but I am determined to do it! They all know and have been threatened if they bring any food near me, lol!

Hi I'm the 29th too. I'm a little uncomfortable at family function. Holliday food and people saying well can't you just have a little. So far I've stuck to my guns

Just tell them (in a nice loving way) that there is so much more to it. If people haven't lived like tthis, they have no idea. Instead of people judging, they should be supportive but it's not always like that. I guess some may be jealous bc they don't have the courage to take a step to a healthier life. @ chin up. This will pass and people will forget. You have to do YOU!

I'm Dec 29th also! Started the liquid diet yesterday. I get 5 Protein Shakes and all the clear liquids
I want per day. I am trying not to think about 12 more days of this! They say it gets easier after the first 3 or 4 days. I hope so!

I am scheduled for Dec. 30th!!! I don't have a "pre-op" diet for the week before, but I am still replacing at least 1 meal a day with a Protein shake, and the day before I will have only Clear liquids starting in the late afternoon, and nothing to eat or drink after midnight. The pre-op diets sure do seem to vary. Getting excited, but nervous too!!! :D + Anyone else feeling that way?? I'm looking forward to it, but more to actually having the operation part over with, so I can begin my recovery and life on the other side of the sleeve!!! :)

Today is day 1 of pre op clear liquid diet. Went well for the most part. Surgery is Dec 29th and can't wait! Anyone else out there on the same day?

I'm scheduled for surgery on Dec 29th as well but my doctor recommends a high Protein diet for our two week pre op. He stated it will decrease the size of our liver thus helping him access our stomach better.

I am 12/29 too! Two-week liquid diet here. 4-5 shakes and clear liquids yippee! Excited to find others scheduled around the same time as me. I live 100 miles from my surgeon's office so won't be joining their support group. I hope to find the support I need here :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
