Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Hello there Band fans....I got banded March 28th-2007.

I told myself....Bycyling would be a very good choice. Fresh air, muscles working for the sake of "Cardio". After one week passed--in April. I purchased three new bikes for me and my two sons. I have defeated many things doing that. No more not riding with my children--we ride as a crew (family). We could not conquer the hill on my street. We used to stop 3 to 4 times before getting to the top ( I did). So now the wheels have turned. My kids ask me---"Daddy can we stop--our legs are burning". Thank God I am doing well now. Now with 21 pounds gone---but just riding bikes. I am ready for the next Journey...The 1st fill--I am looking forward to the next 4 to 6 weeks--maybe 12 or 20 pounds gone...who knows...:faint: this is how I feel on many days after my ride. Today--(8.5 miles) It was walking, riding around the fair in my town--but that is what my speedometer said when it was all over...

They are very yummy. I have tried the orange, strawberry, and black cherry. All of them were very yummy. I also like regular Clif bars too. A little harder to eat but delicious all the same.

  • orange is my fav. I've had punch too, not so good.

  • Okay, so you two concur on the orange, strawberry and black cherry. Cherry is my favorite flavor, so I will get more of that. Thanks, chicas! (I gave y'all "reputation" for this info! I still can't be

And BG, I forgot to mention, I just bought icy blue sunglasses on line. Two different pair to go with the rest of the blue I'm sporting.

I'll have to get a picture.

Oh, and I'll be hitting the gym on the none bike days so I'm not a complete slug.....;)

Juli, ok, you talked me into it....I am changing it...Certified Biker Bitch!!!!

BG, crap that sounds crappy to have to change times of work like that!!!I would ride in the heat of the day too!!! Much safer than when it is dark outside!! You could get a head light and flashing ass light. Juli has a flashing ass light!!!!

Hoosier!!! Way to go!! A new bike! You will definitely love it way more and be more comfortable on it too, which equals more time on the bike.

Juli, 30 miles at a time???? Damn, my ass is so sore after 20, I don't know what I would do after 30, YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

This is the best support group for exercise ever!!! And I think we should approach Oprah about doing that show BabyGrl.....You call her up and ask her, me and Juli will show up!!!! K...ride safe all!!!

I am not really sure if I am ready to draw attention to my ass yet with a flashing light.

Changing times at work really is not that bad. I don't have to come in later on my stock month, I chose to so I could ride. But the first week back at 5 am did suck after coming in at 8a. 5am sucks a whole lot more in the summertime when it doesn't get dark until after 10p. I need 8 hours of sleep to function properly and I don't want to waste my day napping. So I have been popping some Lipo6x for the energy.

Juli at least you are going to the gym on your non bike days. I am definitely going to get a gym membership when winter comes around.

I am going camping in a few weeks and I must say I am a bit freaked out. I know I will get my exercise in but my eating is going to be difficult to keep in check. I have purposely begun to buy snacks for the kids and DH that I don't like or can't eat (Twinkies and BBQ chips lol). My eating has always been "the problem". That was why I started working out, so I did not have to be one of those 800 calorie people. I am just freaked out about not having a scale for 2 weeks, and no support from you guys for two weeks. I might have to find a library around there with a computer lol. I ma excited for the biking though. There is a bike trail at one of the state parks where I am going that is supposed to be awesome. I think it is like 30 miles or so and it should be fun. DH will be able to come with me since my parents are also going and will be able to watch the kids.

Well I have my bike in the car to ride after work. If all goes well weather wise I should have my workout done before I get home from work.

BG-

The light on my ass, as it was so delicately put, is so cars see me at dusk and not hit me.

Funny, I ride in biker shorts and I'm at 244 pounds. No small thing.

When we did our ride on Sunday I was passing people here and there, those stopped at the side of the road. My GF who was behind me said the people would actually stare a bit. Of course I was the biggest person cycling, well I saw one other good sized chica, but I don't care. Look at me. Look at me pass your skinny ass. Woo Hoo.

Okay, and for support, really do you want a phone number? You can keep track of your food with pen and paper. Take a little notebook. Just be sensible about how you eat. You'll be burning mega calories, hauling stuff and just being outside. Watch how you drink, alcohol has huge calories so don't indulge too much...I can't think of anything else. But really, I'm serious if you want a phone number I'll give you mine so to be able to encourage/support ya.

Juli, sorry about the light on your ass comment....I actually am getting one myself....and I will proudly sing, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine", the whole time I am biking!!!

BG, that sounds like such a great time. Two weeks camping....I am so jealous and a great trail to ride on too!!! What more could you ask for, other than an ass light!!!!!

Juli, so what did the people were staring part mean? Like they were staring like....WOW, what a hot biker chick that is? or staring like....WOW, that person it riding fast? or what? I often wonder what people think of me riding down the road. I have got some hoots and hollers, not sure if they are bad or good ones though!!!!!!

I was aksed last evening to sign up for a bike ride in August. I should be getting my new bike next week. The smallest route is 21 miles. He said I dont have to complete the whole route and can stop whenever I need to.

Do you think I should give it a shot?????

Hoosier

20 miles six weeks from now should be doable. Setting goals like that is a fantastic way to grow yourself. DO IT!

Deanna-

Don't apologize, there's no need! I don't know what the people were thinking...somehow I don't think it's look at that hot chick...but I don't put much into what strangers think about me.

Let's talk about goals...The GF, who's named Alison, BTW and I set some goals this weekend for our riding.

We are going to shoot for:

40 miles July 21

50 miles Aug 11

62 miles Sept 30

I think it's a bit much but she's all about stretching and improving and I can't really find a good argument, other than I don't wanna...so I do it.

Hence shooting for a consistent 30 miles this week.

I'll keep you posted.

Juli, I know you have a sense of humor so I wasn't too worried about the joke, but ya never know...ya know??? So, are there goals for a week?? Like 40 miles a week, at one time? Then move on to working up to 50 miles at a time? THat is sooo cool!!!

And I bet it was the "look at that hot chick"!!!!! You are hot, we are all hot!!!.....and sweaty!!! LOL.....rock on girls, and guys!!

hoosier,

YES YES YES Do it!!!! It will be great and fun and you will be so happy that you signed up. What great motivation too!!!! DO IT!!! For me, if not for you!! LOL...just kidding.

I knew what the light was for lol. I was just being a smart ass. But hey if I am a smart ass then I need the light to be my thinking light bulb right? Yeah, yeah bad joke lol.

The drinking I am not too worried about. Since I have been working out it seems wasteful to me to drink. I don't want those calories when I have been working so hard to burn them. Plus I don't want to feel like shit in the morning. It is the eating that scares me. When i camp, I snack. ALL. THE. TIME. So I just need to find a way to not do that. Maybe I will take 1000 pictures for you guys and that will keep me busy! Here is the pack we will be staying at ParkList

Pentwater really is my favorite place in the world. I love camping there.

Here is the link for the Bike trail park which is right near it ParkList

Hoosier you can definitely do that. My first bike ride was like May21st and I could barely make it one mile. I thought I was going to die. I can do 20 now.

Those goals are definitely doable Juli. You are lucky to have a girlfriend that wants to work out with you and pushes you!

Oh and i forgot to mention that I did 10 miles after work today. I had the WORST. DAY. EVER. The biking made me feel a bajillion times better.

GO BG!!!!! That is so great!! Glad you got your ride in and I agree, it does make you feel a ton better!!!! Sweat out all the pissiness....thats what I was doing the other night when I was mad at DH for sitting on porch watching me mow the lawn I got it done like in a half an hour I was walking so fast pushing that mower!!!!! It usually takes and hour, so I felt a whole lot better when it was all said and done!!!! AND I didn't even yell!!! Also, I used to snack all the time when I camped too, but this year is different. I haven't snacked. I drank lots of Crystal Light...Keep postive... you can do it....I wanna see a loss when you get back from vaca...and I MEAN IT!!!! LOL...

omg, BG that is BEAUTIFUL!!! I am soooooooooooooo freakin jealous....we live nowhere near anything that looks like that. WOW....truly cool. It says there is wireless in the day area for use...do you have a laptop???LOL..don't want you to get lonely for us....

OMG!!!!! NOW I am really really really really really jealous BG....22 mile trail to ride!!!!! FREAKIN SHIT....that is going to be awesome...I wouldnt worry about snacking too much... ride that every day and you should be FINE!!! When do you leave???? Can I come too????

Deanna of course you can come! We are leaving on the 22nd. It seriously cannot come quickly enough. I cannot stand one more minute of the

C U Next TuesdayS that I work with. One woman in particular is making me miserable. I feel like I am in a hostile environment. Who am I kidding? I am in one. I dread going to work every single day. My boss is great and I love my job but this woman is a miserable excuse for a human being. I requested today that I get my shift switched. I loathe working afternoons but just being away from this lady would be worth it. Eventually she is going to shoot herself in the foot but I just cannot deal with it anymore. I can't wait for that to happen. I am having freaking anxiety attacks just worrying about what my day is going to be like. I am a tough girl but the constant bitching and blatant rudeness and shit talking 5 feet away from me has got to stop. I know talking to my boss is just going to make it worse. Crotchface (that's my name for miserable lady) is going to get written up and I know it is just going to make things worse. She needs to be fired and be gone. She has turned everyone against me. I come to work and do a good job and really "get" what I am doing. The other women (there are 7 of us) in my department just don't get it. It is not my fault I was born with common sense and a decent brain. It is also not my fault that I have only been there a little over a year and I can run circles around all of them. I don't gloat, I don't throw things in their faces. I try to help and if I say anything about a problem they are having to try and help solve it they accuse me of trying to act like their boss. I have gotten to the point where I don't even voice my opinion anymore because I don't want to deal with the backlash. These are 50 year old women I am dealing with, but they act like they are in junior high. I should not be having damn panic attacks because I have to go to work. I am just thinking about work and I want to throw up. I have never been treated this way and I don't know how to handle it. I need a friggin cigarette and i don't smoke anymore. At least I am too sick to my stomach to eat. I have been thinking about it but I just want to puke. The last thing I ate was a protein shake at like 3:30. If that is actually considered eating. The last solid food I had was at noon.
