Calorie counter & diet tracker by MyFitnessPal app

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery a few years back. But I have put weight back on. I began loosing it again on my own. Then I found a support group that meets monthly, it's nice and hard to look at people knowing you slipped up but nice because many have been where you have been. That app was suggested ... I want to give the lady a hug (& I am not a hugging person).

It helps track everything in such an easy manner, gives you the ability to track easier and find where you can change. It has given me a larger jump start from where I had been.

But you have to be completely honest when you fill this out. If you don't, then you are failing yourself.

We all have our ups and downs, this little app helps you get back on track. Helps you become the healthier you that you need to be.

Tricia thank you for sharing your journey, and for being so open and honest. I'm 4 weeks out and I started using the My Fitness Diet Tracker to lose weight pre operation. However I've been contemplating not using it anymore since I can't eat as much. But you post tells me to keep using it.

Thank you Tricia!!!

I am 18 months post surgery. I have been using MFP since four months before surgery. I lost 40 pounds before surgery and I have lost a total of 210 pounds. I am at my goal weight and have a normal BMI. I strongly believe that I owe a good part of my success to using MFP. It is by far the best weight loss and weight maintenance tool I have ever found. I continue to use it every day and know that as long as I do, I will be able to maintain my current weight.

I love this topic! I'm 3 months out and stalled right around Thanksgiving. I have lost 51 pounds to date, with 49 to go! I discovered I was grazing the work food buffet table was adding up to a lot of calories! Grazing is my enemy! Thanks to MFP, it made me face the truth. I think it is so important to be honest with yourself, accountable to yourself. A food and exercise tracker helps. I'm a big denial person, pretending the one bite of Brie I ate was fine. Oh, just a hand full of nuts, fine... And so on. That's what my weight fan has always been about, do I'm working on honesty and facing the music. My other issue, (at least food related), is accurately measuring portions. One cup looks like 1/2! At double the calories it makes a huge difference. My food tracker app is keeping me accountable and weight loss is back! Thanks for listening! I'm pretty passionate!

I'm on MyFitnessPal too - feel free to add me "Dc822d".

There are LOTS of great pieces of info I get from that app. :) I log my food, my Vitamins, and I keep track of my inches lost by using the "check in" feature. This week I was feeling down because I've gained weight, but I've also started a new fitness routine over the past 3 wks. I was all bummed out, until I saw that my inches lost measurements were moving AND my % body fat was going down (I use a FitBit Aria scale).

So, the fitness app helped bring me out of a frustrating situation, by showing me that my hard work is really, really paying off. I just have to keep going.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
