Im 2 weeks out is it possible drinking to much can stretch my sleeve

Recommended Posts

Drinking? As in Water? Clear liquids? shakes? I REALLY hope you're not talking about alcohol....

I don't think you can stretch your sleeve with liquids, but you need to still adhere to your NUT's guidelines of how many ounces you drink of Water, shakes, Soups, etc.. each day.

At nearly one year (12/23/2013) I am up to 80-100 ounces of Water, tea, and milk per day, but did not start there. Freshly pre-op it was hard to get 40 ounces in and it took me an hour to drink 8 ounces. Now I can sip every few minutes except for carving out meal times, and I keep 3 Water bottles by the bed at night. I have to remember to sip, but it can be done - just not in gulps.

No, you can't stretch your sleeve. You'd be feeling the pain from your staple line before your sleeve began stretching.

From everything I've researched over the past 2 years, it is very very difficult to stretch your sleeve. I'm sure it can be done, but it would take a concerted effort over time on your part to stretch out the tough material that constitutes the remainder of your new stomach.

Depending on the person, food and drink capacity differs. Some people have an easier time drinking tons of Water post-op and it just slides right down. I wasn't one of those. Plain Water was never easy for me to drink. If I mix it with Crystal Light, I can guzzle the stuff. :D

Water is very very important :)

people need to drink as much as possible

mannnny people have trouble drinking Water at 2 weeks, and further out

consider yourself lucky that you can drink lots of water with no problem

(don't look a gift horse in the mouth ;) )

no such thing as drinking too much water :)

the more the better

sleeve will not stretch

check with your NUT, but at this early stage of the game you should probably only be sipping slowly

when NUT says ok, you will be able to gulp :)

sounds like you had popsicles (msp  )and Jello for Thanksgiving dinner

oh well there is always next year :)

i am trying to remember a silly joke i heard way back

something like..........

a camel held the worlds record for drinking gallons of water within a couple of minutes :o

shortly after he held the worlds record for doing "this" in a couple of minutes  ................fill in the blank

since you didn't say otherwise, sounds like recovery is going well

down 32 lbs!!! :)

you are aces

keep up the good job

kathy

congrats

can't stress enough how important drinking is (no whiskey sours  ;) )

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
