Anyone having trouble with sleep positions

Recommended Posts

Because I am heavy I usually sleep on my side, sometimes I feel like I can't breathe on my back, but I'm newly banded and it seems that either side is a bad choice because I'm sore. I only notice things feel different then so for the last few days I've been sleeping in a recliner. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes I had the same issue. I slept propped up on a small mountain of pillows, which also helped with gas pains. Now that I'm almost 2 weeks, post op, I can sleep normally again.

If you have a firmer pillow, try sleeping so that your stomach is resting kind of on it, so everything doesn't shift down. I had trouble finding a comfortable position for the first week or so, but sleeping mostly on the pillow seemed to help a little. Fortunately, the discomfort did eventually go away and I can sleep normally now.. typically sprawled out face down, which I actually woke up some time in the first week post-op in that position and didn't really want to move because nothing hurt. Don't know how I ended up like that, but I did.

sleeping on your side will be painful for a few weeks, or longer. Especially on the port side! I felt twinges in that area for a few months.

If your comfortable in the recliner, I'd use it.

Thanks for the replies, as the soreness leaves, I've been able to sleep on my left side but not my right yet.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
