sleevers for the week of nov 24th?

Recommended Posts

My sleeve procedure went off without any problems. I was sleeved on nov 24 and was home the next morning. I woke up in a lot of discomfort and shoulder pain, all from the Carbon dioxide given during surgery. About a couple hours after recovery, I was determined to get up and walk, so I did. I walked the hospital halls 3x that day and it helped tremendously with gas pains. I SIPPED on ice chips and Water, and was able to eat 1/4 of a SF Jello. I was very nauseous upon waking up, I was given meds for that and I haven't been nauseous since. So today marks day 3 post op, and I'm doing great. I've stayed in check with Clear Liquids only and walking at least 2x a day. I'm still on pain meds, one in the am and one in the pm. Gas pains and shoulder pain have subsided. Other than being very sore, head-hunger & growing tired of clear liquids, IM GOOD.

Sleeved on the 26th. Home the 27th. Terrible pain from the gas yesterday (28th)... I took some laxatives and that helped relieve it. Today I woke up feeling "normal" whatever that is now! I had my first non clear liquid food and it made my heart happy. I've lost about 18 pounds so far... and couldn't be happier.

Good luck everyone!

Great NPEACE! I'm much better now...just soreness/pain from the incisions...tried to have some more soft foods (I'm 9 days post op)...it still hurts....

I'm 5'6" and started at 220...I've only lost about 6 pounds....that's not very encouraging to me...I hope this is gonna work!! :-(

Okay, so who has head hunger???? I never noticed how many tv commercials have all this food I absolutely feel I must have right now! Since when does a pretzel pizza look like heaven? Well, now I guess!

I need to get over this or I will NOT do well!

Oh I do!!! I'm 10 days post....I'm hungry y'all the time (or so I think). Everything on TV makes me want to cry! I can't watch my favorite shows on food network for now. Just saw the Little Ceasars pretzel pizza and thought to myself - YUM!!!! When before it used to make me gag!!

I have cheated trying to eat real stuff like mashed up Mac n cheese, mushy burrito filling, but it all made me puke, so I learned my lesson. I just cry a little now when I see a big juicy burger on TV... ;-( I find that when out of sight, out of mind. So I know I'm not really hungry, it's just all in my head!

Someday my friend...someday.....we'll get to eat good stuff every once in a while.

God be with us! And let the hungries stay far far away!!!

I was sleeved on the 24th. I had a revision with some small complications that surgeon encountered. Being the great surgeon that he is he was able to get everything accomplished. I went into surgery at 9 am and did come out until 3 pm and out of recovery at 5 pm. I was in more pain that I could have ever imagine. I felt like a truck had hit me. I came home on Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving. The only waking that I have been doing is getting around my apartment. I am still on pain meds. I have been concentrating on getting my fluids and Protein in. I have been feeling blah, weak and in pain. I am down about 10 pounds, taste buds are horrible in hopes they improve and i am not experiencing hunger headaches. I think i will listen to my body and take a few more days off from work.

@@sleevechick2014 I'm feeling good. One of my incisions by my navel is still very sore. I went to work this Monday and Tuesday but it was too much, so I took off for the rest if the week.

I go back tomorrow, I'm nervous. I am only staying as long as I "feel" like it though so that's good!

Why... cuz they sent me home in it and said to wear it for like the next month. I was highly drugged for the reason though... hmmm you didn't get one???

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
