28 miles as of today!!! I am so proud of myself. Also, starting next week I am limiting the amount of time that I am available for students. I will only be available Tues. and Thurs. for them to come in for help. I am hoping that will help the food situation at work. That way I can make sure that I am giving myself a meaningful time to eat instead of grabbing a bite here and there and never getting hungry and never getting full. Without meaningful eating I just graze all day.

Phyl...I hope you are feeling better and that your TOPS event went well. Big Hugs to you!

Karri, we are PROUD of you TOO! You've become such an awesome role model for us lazy slugs who don't do enough exercise... Keep on keepin on!

Okay... Hic hic, here, too! OMG, I don't know what happened!

SIL left some vodka here after their visit. That's what started it!! Trouble!

So DH decides we need to "get rid of" the vodka! So he bought orange juice and I persuaded him that SIL used OJ & Grenadine, so I stuck a bottle of Grenadine in the shopping basket yesterday! So, this afternoon, when it was time for my afternoon wine & cheese, he fixes himself a big glass of Jim's concoction... vodka, grenadine & OJ.... sort of a "Tequila Sunrise" but with vodka. He finishes that off (I had one yesterday and decided I'd rather have wine, thank you very much!) So after two of those he decides we need to invite the neighbors over... it was a warm, beautiful afternoon and we were sitting out on the patio by then. So, first neighbors, behind us, he struck out... they were getting ready to go out for dinner & didn't want to drink before going out on the road. SO he goes next door..... lights are on but no one's home. So he goes to the German people on the other side... I mean they barely speak English, but he's had all this vodka, so he doesn't care. So they come over. Really nice people... bought an RV in FL a few years ago & now they spend 6 mos in the USA every year. Having a very nice visit with them when the neighbors on the other side come home. DH invites them over, too. Pretty soon other neighbors go by on their golf cart... DH, still drinking, flags them down, too. Now we have 8 people, including us, and I guess we're having a "Happy Hour" party! He just keeps pouring that vodka & mixing these drinks that the Germans have now named "Russian Sunset" (as opposed to Tequila Sunrise)! Pretty soon Dh is emptying contents of the refridgerator.. summer sausage, cheese, crackers... moving on to ham, macaroni salad left over from ladies' luncheon I went to yesterday, ham, his favorite costco bread! Neighbors bring over more cheese, more sausage, more macaroni salad. German's bring over kettle corn, some very hot red things.. like cheetos only NOT! I tried one and that was enough!

So, needless to say, afternoon drink turned in to too much drink, Snacks, and eventually... dinner. Everyone pooped out about 7:30 pm. Most have retired to the pool/hot tubs now. I am recovering in front of the TV. Quite an evening, and totally unexpected, but fun! I've had way too much wine, but that's okay. Back on track tomorrow.... and I steered clear of that vodka stuff!! I was perfectly content with my little wine glass & my merlot!!

And, we WERE celebrating!! My TOPS meeting went GREAT this morning. I was pretty nervous because we were having an open house today and I was reluctantly in charge.

I was really blown away at how sweet everyone was... they made a really big deal out of my 100 lb loss and one lady even went out of her way to get me a dozen red roses!! It was amazing!! And besides that, we had several guests and I think we may get three new members out of all that. And I lost a wee bit! I've now more than recovered from the holidays and DD/SIL visit! Back on track. Well, except for a little over indulging tonight! Hell, I needed a good party to get me out of my "blue funk"!!

23_33_12.gif 7_4_13.gif

Wow Phyl, what a nice turn of events!. Sometimes those impromptu visits are the Best. And good for you staying away afrom the VODKA! Did you learn any German? LOL

"ich lebe dich" means I LOVE YOU!

tonight, we are having friends over for dinner, he is from Jamaica so I am making RUM PUNCH...!! Instead of using Sugar in the punch I am using SPLENDA~! so I'll only have to count the RUM portion hee, hee, hee.

Janet: next week at this time we'll be in Vegas!! with WARM desert weather, I can hardly wait.

It is so cold here, the cars Groan when you turn the ignition. My toyota always starts, but it complains....

Oh and the Dr's office called this a.m. and My Mom's going to get into the specialist Jan 29th... so not that big a wait.... luckily.

Wow, that is a great price to go to Vegas,,,,.... Does that mean you are coming too next weekend????:yikes:

Uhhhh, I would if I could, but I can't so I won't.

Considering that I just got back from being away and spending beau coup Euros on a new wall and gates for the house over there, no way jose. BUT (notice, that's a big but) the next time can certainly be on the radar.

Good evening ladies. Just thought I'd pop my head in so you didn't think I'd disappeared again.

Travel was good. It is warm on this side of the state. Was 45 here in Helena today. I guess it was -20 this morning at home. I'm now in my hotel room and I've been working hard on all that I was procrastinating. Why I leave things til the last minute is beyond me. But it is mostly done so I'm taking some time for me. It's 11:30 so the rest will have to be tomorrow morning.

Okay...good news first...but long story to get there.....

When I last went snowmobiling I had a 2xl mens coat and 2xl women's bibs. The bibs were getting too small and the coat, though arms were too long, just fit. Anyways, I tried on the bibs last week when we went snowmobiling and they were a riot. I could have fit at least 2 if not 3 of me in them. I didn't even attempt the coat. Anywho....I went online and was trying to figure out what to order and was very troubled with the size charts. The things said a small was a 6-8 but the waist size was something crazy like 24 inches. The xl was the right waist but said pant size was 14-16. So I called the company and the idiot man on the phone didn't understand the problem and I just got frustrated. So I didn't order a damned thing because I was coming out here. So this morning I went to a shop to try on...and the size 8 fit!!! I was so worried I was going to have to get an xl and cry. It wouldn't have mattered if they ran small or not. That xl still would have slapped me. And for those of you in an xl, that is not an insult to you all in the least. Please don't take it that way.

I was excited to check into hotel because I wanted to work out...but all they have is a recumbant bike and a treadmill....no elliptical. Friend is going to check to see if I can go to her gym on a day to day rate. Anyways...I did walk 1/2 hour, but my music only lasted 16 minutes. I almost gave in then but pushed through. I forgot my Jillian video in P'wood. I was all psyched about plugging it in my laptop and doing it here in the mornings. Oh well...I'll get the exercise in.

No calorie count today....too tired to care. I did good food wise and did manage to get in 48 oz of Water.

I'm coming down with a cold. I have a fever blister from hell on my lip....about the size of a quarter inside and out. My throat is sore and nose is getting stuffy. I took some cold stuff and my back meds. Going to sign off...after I move my cars (and pay my parking fines that I'm sure Phyl gave me) and get to sleep.

Candice, great job on 175!!!! What a magic number

Phyl, sounds like a great party both this morning and this evening. I'm glad I wasn't there because that vodka would have been my undoing.

Janet, I wish I was going to Vegas....I'm jealous.

Karri, good for you on limiting your availability. It will be tough to stick to, but oh so worth it! And awesome job on the miles.

Car, as soon as I get the chance to do some searching (tomorrow evening probably) I will start with the daily tips. my email is StephS@qtr.us or you can just pm me. Tomorrow's goal....1 1/2 times the water....100 oz. With the cold I need to up my liquids. And your body cannot burn calories without Fluid.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone. I'll check in sometime tomorrow evening.

Hi Steph,

Size 8!!! Way to go, you petite thing you!

Ain't this waist thing the pits! Whose waists are the stinkn' clothes supposed to fit, anyway? And jeans, r.i.g.h.t.......my cuffs drag on the ground even with 4" heals and I'm 5'5". They fit great though the legs, and then the waist.......sure.... So, what I do now is order my good pants from a company that makes them custom for a lot less than I can buy them Makeyourownjeans.com, Custom Jeans | Designer Jeans . Before you poo, poo the idea, what would you give for a pair of pants made to your measurements that strangers compliment you on? I love "skinny" jeans (since we can now wear them without bulges, etc.), but can only find them in low rise. I have them made with stretch denim (like the expensive jeans) to fit a natural waist and to blouse exactly the way that I want. I think that they run $45ish. They do a wide selection of styles, colors and finishes. They even do custom shirts (haven't tried that one yet) for about $25.

When I hit a size 10, I treated myself to several pairs of designer jeans, whose cost shall remain nameless. I now only wear them in a pinch (figuratively).

Well, better get back to protecting the country.:yikes:

From everything I've heard, Michican is hellish -- it only seems fitting it froze over.

Hey Everybody,

Cals today very good until I got to the bar. Then......

like Phyl says.... there was this Vodka......and.....

Well I felt the need, NEED, to drink. I wasn't wasting cals. on fancy drinks so I downed the vodka straight. Lemon drops, you dip a lemon in sugar, down the vodka, then bite the lemon. Did you know that Vodka taste exactly like rubbing alcohol? Yuck!

Cals today not too good, not horrendous, but not too good.

OMG, I just glanced at the TV, which I am not watching, and Tom Cruise sliced someones head open straight down the front. DH's kind of movie, YUCK!

That's why I stuck to my wine!! Talk about yuck... next door neighbor didn't want to drink the "Russian Sunsets" DH was fixing or the wine, so she brought over her own "Fuzzy Navel" in a bottle and THEN she added VODKA to it!! I can't imagine! We have some fresh lemons, but I don't think I'll try that vodka trick!! We even have a lemon tree outside our door with a few ripe lemons on it now. Used one on some Tilapia the other night.

Hi there ladies! I hope you had a wonderful day. Mine wasn't too bad except that I didn't want to get out of bed this morning and so I spent all day trying to get caught up from that extra half hour I took. grrrrrr. Serves me right for procrastinating.

food today was good. Haven't taken time to chart it yet so I can't give you totals but bf was a burrito from McD's and 8 oz OJ...cuz I have a cold. lunch was a go lean crunch bar (they are the best!) and 1/2 c. dried cherries, snack was 1/2 c. of this almond stuff they sell at Costco...don't remember what it's called but it's basically almonds stuck together in little chunks....dinner was 4 oz. chicken and 1c ceaser salad (and I would have chose something else but that is what they had). One cookie at workshop. 75 oz of Water if I get thiss last 20 oz in before bed. 1/2 hour on the treadmill. 2mi. I was going to go for 45 but it shut down on me and I was too frustrated to have lost all my data to start over. (really crappy machines here)

I chuckle at the Hell froze over comment....I'm telling you it froze over a couple of weeks ago and I drove through it, remember????

I'm so jealous of the Vegas trip. The lady I do this workshop with is going to leave for there on Sunday afternoon. Her family has a timeshare there and they are going to spend the week. How nice does that sound? I'm telling you, jealous. But, no snowmobiling there so you are going to miss out on that fun.

Vodka and I have a love hate relationship. I used to drink Southern Comfort but since my band I just get way to drunk way too fast. I tried something less alcohol like Amaretto but then I got super full and way too many cals. So I've switched to the flavored vodkas. They make an orange one, mixed with diet 7 tastes like a sunkist....the blue ras with diet squirt is pretty refreshing...the problem is that it gives me a horrendous headache and when I drink it I am fine one minute and toast the next. I can't moderate on it because it always hits me WHAM!!!! So I love it, but it hates me.

As for carrying the weight in a bag....I tried to carry ONE 5 gallon jug of water....I've lost almost 2...some of you have lost 3. Can you imagine carrying those around all day. Try to carry ONE, ONE lap around the grocery store. Just ONCE. It SUCKS!!! I'm amazed everytime I think how much hell I was putting my body through. No wonder it started to give up.

Okay...off to repark my cars and see how many tickets I've aquired today. I'm never going to get a million dollars!

Plan is to get up early tomorrow morning and do 1/2 hour in the morning as well as the 1/2 hour tomorrow night, on the treadmill. Wish it was something more exciting but better than sitting here on my butt. Oh...and after my 1/2 hour I did 100 different crunches. Jillian was sitting on my shoulder telling me to.

Okay...now...goodnight ladies!

A real live lemon tree! Think I need to come for a visit. When we get the garden redone on our house, we are putting in some lemon trees in large pots (can be moved in the winter out of the wind), I know that it's silly, but DH and I have dreamed of a home with lemon trees outside. I'm with you, but a squeeze of lemon or lime in some red wine can be very nice.

Good Morning Gang - Well last nite my computer froze and lost my post:cursing:

I gotta a question - who has a portable navigation system - I got one for xmas - but when I try to input like Trump Hotel (this is where we are staying) it's not on the map - so now I have to go buy a new map of the western region to get more detail ???- that SUCKS BIG TIME.. What a rip off imho... I think that is should come loaded with a detail map!!!

Phyl - LOVE LOVE the story about DH and the vodka - that was too frickin funny - something I would do - You guys haven't seen me drink - OMW - I get very out going... I don't do vodka cuz that was my Mom's drink - and she drank - so I'm a Gin or Tequila girl - I like a good bourbon too - but I do like lemon drop martini's and I think they are made with vodka - but you won't find a bottle of vodka in my house - just this mental thing about it...

Candice - I gotta google the weather for next week - Vegas is usually a little colder than here in my desert - but again what I consider cold and what you consider cold are 2 diff things :(

I am really looking forward to getting away it should be fun..

Karri - I am glad to hear that you are going to cut your availability to your students - you do need to make time for you... That's a great step and a big one for you - WTG on the running !!!!

Kari - Hell in Michigan - too funny no hell is here in the desert during the summer :0)

Steph - I haven't drank really since we went to the Rock yard last summer - I got way to drunk and I hate the hang overs - I don't do just a little I end up going over board - so why start...

Denise - Most liquor taste nasty really and truly especially when you drink it straigh... That's why they mix it so much - it's an acquired taste IMHO

But I do have to say that I do like Sauza tequila to sip on straight... See I have acquired a taste for that :0)

Car - Designer Jeans - Ya my 1st 12's where designer and paid too much $$ but they were 12's...

I like NYDJ but they are pricey (not your daughters jeans) and I like the Levi 512 ($34 on sale) the fit at your waist and I like pants that fit at my waist - I have some low rise (not real low) and they are OK - but I feel more comfortable in the high well really normal waisted pants..

Donna - between here my mentor thread and the 50 thread (which I hardly post to) and face book - I don't have time for any more threads.:)..

Well I may once we get to the 12 finalist and I figure out who my fav is.. Hope this year is better than the last couple - my fav year was when Fantasia won !!

OK of to get dressed for they gym & brush my teeth - it's 6:40 - agenda today - gym - nails - target shopping gs need mouth wash etc need dog food and then home...

So I will cbl gang - have a good Saturday...

I wanna go to Vegas!!!!!!!! Both on your your little vacation and to move there. I will take "hell" in the summer anytime over "hell" in the winter! Before the weight loss it was totally different. I couldn't handle the heat..but now I am freezing all the time. My kids are even making comments at school that I need to buy new coats because they don't match my skirts! Great...getting fashion tips from teenagers!

Well I worked at the basketball game last night so I didn't get to the gym but I am going to get ready to go this morning! I need to get about 15 miles in the next 2 days to have any chance of catching up on the challenge.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

    • BeanitoDiego

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
