What size BAND do you have? and what type?

I have a MID Band (French) but have no idea how much saline it will hold.

You know, I don't even know what kind/size band I have. I will ask on my next post-op appt.

Of course walking counts! My doc said for the first month, that's all I'm allowed to do. He said after that, then I can move to more strenuous activities/lifting stuff.

dieka - First, don't get depressed about the dang corndog! Just accept it for what it was and get back on track today! It's okay to fall off the wagon, but just make sure you get back on! Beating yourself up about it may lead to MORE eating! Let it go! Remember, it's not a BAD thing to be hungry, just eat enough to get rid of it...:)

Peaches - I have the INAMED 10cc band...pretty typical for the states

Well...it's officiall 3 WEEKS now and I finally LOST! :whoo:Okay, so it was 1/2 lb., but it's still losing! I have to admit that I don't get all excited for all those who have lost a heaping mound of weight...I'm insanly jealous and wondering where all the motivation and "stick-to-itness" that everyone else seems to have. I did a bunch today...worked with my chickens. Got a couple that are layin around too much and gave them a "bath"...they didn't like it and I think I'll be pulling bird crap out of my hair for a few days! :cryI did manage to clean out the "coop" too and sweat a lot! So, I just have some more crazy monkey jungle love tonight :kiss2:and my excersize will be done for the day!

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but when you do a New Reply instead of a Quick Post you can set up your email notification...this totally helps with reading all the posts...you can set it for "daily email notification" and it posts everything from the last time you were on....without all the signatures so it A LOT faster for people like me with slow internet and you don't have to load the new pages all the time. Anyway...just a tip

peaches, I have the 4cc Inamed Band. I had my first fill last week of 1.4cc's. The 4 cc band is 10 centimeters long. Don't know much more.

Chim, doing good here, but it's so hot, I don't even want to go out to walk, even after the sun goes down, it's so humid. Definitely not getting my excercise in, but hopefuly being back at work will help. I'm up and down on a later about 20 times a day, and always walking here and there.

Marcy, you and your animal stories, you make me laugh!!!

Oh, and I have to commment on one of your posts, and if I could figure how to add it in here, I would, but you mentioned those crazy people running up there in Alaska. Does this mean I'm crazy for walking my marathon???????? They do have a TNT marathon in Anckrage (sp) every year, but you have to raise like $5,000 to go.

That's why I chose Columbus, OH where I only had to raise $1500 to go.

I cant even catch up right now, I am still at work 2 more hours to go and I am exhausted. I dont know what I could have been thinking that I could do a 10 hour shift 8 days after surgery. I felt great this morning, but I have been dragging for the past 2 hours. I just want to go home and lay down!!!!!!!!! I have a 5 hour shift tomorrow!!! and another 10 hour one on Thursday------CRAP!!!!!!!!!

I went to a professional development today and have no idea what they talked about, all I could think about was food, I was starving, as in pre-banding starving. So when I get home I ate a tablespoon of shredded parmesan cheese and six Kalamata olives. I felt horrible but could honestly not hold any longer. I just had to have something 'real'. So now I am not nearly as hungry.

But the good news is that in addition to Curves I got a membership to our local rec. center so I can go walking/exercising regardless of the weather. I live in a pretty small town so it does not have a lot of resources, but it does have a walking track and a small weigh room with threamills and stationary bikes- 2 of each.

Dmjet and unru- I teach bilingual Sped K-2, and we teachers have to be back on the 21st, students on the 28th. It's coming!!!! :)

Hello everyone! Second day back and still grooving along.

Chim and someone else were talking about Water after fills. I've had my fill a week now, and I can dring Water like nothing, except in the early morning when I get up. It takes me an hour to drink 20 oxzs in the morning, but after that, about 15 minutes. I've tried sipping but it is so hot at work, and feel like I'm duing of thirst, so I drink, I've not slimed once, but everyone is different. You'll have to try it yourself to see, but no problems here.

jackie, congrats on the huge loss.

Only4me, my doc stated about 4-10 lbs a month would be an average loss for me. I do think it depends on your water intake, excercise, and what food choices you make.

Kathy, so you liked the transformer movie. I'd like to take Hunter, but I think he's just too little still, even though he has an ok attention span.

He'll have to wait to see it on DVD.

I'd wait to until Transformers is on DVD. There's a lot of adult time in the movie... not sex, just adult conversation. So He might lose interest during those points. But it was a very good movie!

Lynette, yay! Congrats on doing your marathon. When is it?

Only4Me, Hang in there. Just think, in 2 more hrs, you'll be able to go home, relax, and rest. You can do it!

Caz, don't stress. Just get back up, brush yourself off, and keep it moving! It's all good!!!

Chim, this was last years marathon. Actually, I want to wait and get all my wieght off, and do another one, probably the Cincinnati Flying Pig in May of 2009. I want to compare my times, from my highest weight ever to my all new lowest weight ever.

Vacation is going really well. It rained all day today, so we took our son and our friends son indoor "glow" mini golfing and then to see the Simpsons Movie today... not really my cup of tea, but they thought it was funny. Tomorrow we're off to a waterpark. I don't think I'm supposed to be swimming yet, but my scars have all healed, with no scabs, so I'm going. Its so hot here.. not sunny though. Really humid.

I'm still on liquids, but I did chew up some popcorn at the movie today, and it went through fine. I'm not overly hungry, but when hunger hits... IT HITS!!!!

I feel like I'm out of touch with everyone, as I don't really have the time to read everyones posts.

I think someone was asking about band type and size... mine is a Midband, same as Peaches (we have the same surgeon). I think its a 10 cc band, but not sure. I know its Dr. Yau's preferred band right now, but he chooses the band for the patient once he's inside and can see what would work best for them.

This weekend we are off to Bark Lake, which is a private campground that has lots of rustic cabins and a lodge that is like a rustic hotel. Every year at this time our association, Voice for Hearing Impaired Children, arranges a family weekend at this camp. About 60 families from all over Ontario meet here. Its a lot of fun for everyone.

While at camp our meals are prepared for us and served cafeteria style. I'm thinking it might be difficult for me to find mushy food at each meal. Any suggestions? I really don't want to bring baby food, but could bring my magic bullet. I could also bring some prepared food, but not sure what I should bring. It will be my first mushy food.

What's working well for everyone on mushies?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
