Hey guys, I'm back. Just haven't really felt like posting much since I have no air conditioning. All I've felt like doing is sitting here and melting.

Anyway, send me your updates and I'll get the spreadsheet posted.

Snaggletooth---I love Paula....Dont you just want to roll everything in flour and fry it after you finish watching her. She is just so adorable. Even prior to surgery I would feel guilty eating some of the things she made...But I cant stop watching.......

Sunny, we had a great time at Kings Island yesterday, and i did good eating. For lunch I ate Subway, only the meat, cheese, some pickles, black olive, and Tomato, not bread, and then later they got pizza and I ate a little cheese and 1 pepperoni, and a small piece of the hard crust. It was so hot, I drank almost all day long, and wasn't really hunry until after we got home.

dmtjet, Hunter is only 3, so he'll go to preschool next year. Still trying to get the potty training done. Hope your daughter is doing better. I remember having oral surgeries, 3 in all, and it was no fun. I think I'd rather give birth again!!

Maria, to avoid reconstuctive surgery, try to add weights into your excercising. It could help.

Frusterated, or shall I say, "not so frusterated anymore", congrats. My DH and I just had our irst time on Friday evening. Even almost 5 weeks post op, he was still scared of hurting me. Things didn't go to well, but we'll get better, it just takes practice!!!

Laurend, are they coming to fix your air?? Seems like it's been out for a while now. For some reason I'm unable to get the spreadsheet to come up on my computer, but I'll keep giving you my updates. I'm down to 212 this week.

Kathy, glad you had a great meal out with the family. We don't go to Olive Garden much, as my DH doesn't really like Italian, unless it's my cooking. I love the salad, and would go there just or that, but have to wait 3 more weeks for that. Did you give your DH the certificate or the trip yet??? How did that go??

Chim, how's the mushy stage going for you? Still hungry or are you satisfied with the new foods?

Dini, how's it going today? Sorry i didn't make it back on last night. My step son gets on and then doesn't want to et off the computer, so I let him go. He doesn't have one at home, so the only time he can get on is when he's here.

Caolin, cazulay, you ladies doing ok today.

only4me, I couldn' t watch the food network. Too much temptation for me. I have a hard enough time with the commecials on the TV.

So I went out today and treated myself to a new set of nails. It's been a while, and I went to a new place. They do these pink and white permanent french manicure sets. A little more than regular acrylics, but they are awesome, so I went for it. LOVE them. I figured I'm going back to work tomorrow so I gotta look good, right!!! Have to plan out my meals for tomorrow and get then ready tonight. For some reason I feel like tomorrow is the first day back to my real life. A little nervous, but ready to go.

Snaggletooth and only4me, I love watching the food network too. Don't forget, you have to roll it flour and fry it in butter. With Paula, you can't forget the butter. :)

laurend, I can't believe they havent fixed your air yet. Jeez, I would die with out air, it is sooooo hot here.

Lynette, glad you had a good time you did great with the eating. Be sure to let us know what you prepare for lunch tomorrow for work. I go back the week after you and I am a little nervous cause the food at work is awful.

Frustrated, good to hear you are not frustrated any more :)

Jeanie, how's it going. I went to my family reunion today. I ate several different veggie casseroles and brought some home for tonight. I didn't eat too much. Just ate slow and socialized.

They're going to be here tomorrow. If I survive that long. It hasn't really dropped below 90 degrees in my apartment.

Well, I just called them about it on Friday. I kept having to go out of town, so I couldn't call to have them fix it (my landlord requires residents to be present when repairs are made). Plus, every time I would get ready to call them, it would start working again. From what I can figure, the air conditioning unit's low on freon or whatever. It would work sporadically, mostly when I would first turn it on. Not anymore, though. Now it just blows hot air. And of course, it had to COMPLETELY break during a very hot weekend. I'm just hoping that they are able to fix it before Wednesday, because it's supposed to hit 99 degrees.

Hi Everyone,

Laurend- Sorry about your AC. But melting is a good thing. We're all melting. Yeah!!!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

My daughter's boyfriend has been sleeping on the couch for 3 days because his AC is broken too. You will die here without an AC. I think it was Sunny that said she lives next to hell. That makes us neighbors cause this is hell. One good thing about this two story house is two ACs, if one breaks we got a backup plan.

Lynette - Good luck with the potty training. Training my son was a freakin nightmare. He held it for over a week, and I was giving him laxative. I won't tell you where he finally let it go, but a clue is he couldn't hold it once he hit the warm Water. AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

You probably could hear me screaming down the street.

Did someone say Paula Dean, I love her, she is my idol.

I watch HGTV and the food network all day.

Last night I found a recipe for protien balls on obesity help.com

I'll try em and post the recipe.

Dini - Sorry about things, hope you have fun in Italy anyway.

Mango, I have to get up at 4:30 am, and I've been sleeping in every morning for 5 weeks now. It's going to kill me, but at 2pm when I get off, I plan to come home and take a nap with my son, a very long nap!!!

I'm going to take a book to bed around 9 tonight and read, just a little to make me sleepy, and then I'll hopefully be out.

Sunny, I scrambled 3 oz of egg beaters with a slice of turkey bacon, cut up, and a slice of cheese for Breakfast, and for lunch, I've decided to take the vegetable Soup I have left over with a few crackers. For snack, I've got a cottage cheese double. And I made sure I have no money so the snack machines won't be tempting at all!!! So I'm all set, except to pick something out to wear. Wonder what still fits!!!!

That was just on about 2 days ago. I couldn't believe. I had to go so I didn't see what she did with the fired butter. What did she do with it? Obviously it melted.

What a nice problem to have...nothing fits cause its too big :whoo: I haven't tried egg beaters before but I will definitely buy some when I go to the store. I see everyone keeps talking about scambled eggs. Is an omelet more difficult to eat? I thought I would try one some morning. I think I will make some vegetable soup this week so I will have it next week when I go back to work.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
