Hi. So many of us have a goal weight in mind... do any of you have a goal size? I've been up and down my entire life. The biggest was a size 22/24 (just prior to my surgery)and my smallest size was a size 5... 20 plus years ago. Remembering back, I think I felt my healthiest at a size 10/12. That is what I'm aiming for. I'm currently a size 16 and only 4 months post surgery...so maybe I'll make it to a 6 or 8, but would be satisfied with the 10. What's your goal...or is it all about the numbers on the scale?

My ideal size would be around size 16 only because I'm 6 ft 2 I don't want to look like a twig.

Ah, good point. I didn't think about including my height... I'm 5'3. :-) height definitely makes a difference.

Size ten for your height is a pretty conservative unless you are big boned. I bet you would look really good at an eight or even six! Go for it girl!

I am 5'6 and I weigh 238. I wear a size 18-20. I'd like to weigh 120-125 and wear a size 2-4. Partly because I'd love to be that slender and finally for the first time have slender legs and partly because if I then gain back 10 pounds over a few years I would still be in a healthy weight range. Why not set a low goal now when we have the highest chance of succeeding to

It!! It gives me some wiggle room.

I really don't have much of a goal in either weight or size. All I thought was that I'd like to shop in "normal" stores. I was a 16W-18W pre-surg and I'm wearing my smaller 16W jeans now, all of them are nearly falling off of me. But I'm afraid to go shopping and be discouraged if "regular" sizes still don't fit. I haven't shopped or even tried on anything, but my husband keeps telling me I can't wear this-or-that because it's so huge. Oh, I did buy some leggings at costco and he talked me into getting Large, and I thought he was crazy but I wear them all the time now. I need to get to the gym and work on my toning - I have lost 45 but I am so squishy, I'm sure I'd trim down size-wise if I firmed up.

I really had the surgery b/c I was too young to be on so many meds. Once they said I had diabetes,I knew I had to do something. So I am off all my meds now, I have met that goal. Everything from here is bonus.

I'm 5'6 and started at 291 and size 24-26. I am now a 12/14, sometimes a 10. I look at myself and don't know who it is! I'm having skin removal and abdominal wall reconstruction next month, so it's likely I'll be a 10. I weigh 158 now and if this is the end of weight loss, I'm great!!!

Twenty years ago sizing for women was different. A size 10/12 then might be a 8/10 now. So keep that in mind when you think about your ideal size. My ideal size 20 years ago was a size 14. I wear a 7-8 (sometimes a 6 depending on cut). Don't hesitate to try smaller sizes - it is validation of your hard work!

5'6.5". Started at 271.

Didn't have a solid goal in mind but would have been satisfied with a 12, happy with a 10 and an 8 (single digits) was a DREAM!

I am now 139 and a solid 6, occasionally a 4. Never thought that would happen in a million years!

Hoping for plastics too (tummy, arms, thighs & boobs) so who knows if that will put me solidly into the 4's.

I do exercise a LOT so that has probably helped with the skin somewhat, but it's definitely still there.

I'm 5'11" and currently 303. At my highest I was 323 so I'm down 20 pounds so far (9 days post op). I wear a 22/24. I will be thrilled if I get down to 200 but to be in my "ideal weight" zone I need to get down to 175. As far as size, maybe 12/14? I am tall and big boned so I can't imagine myself ever being in single digits.

I am 5"9 and started out at 355. I am down to 225, and according to my doctor I need to be down to 160. I think I'd be too thin at 160. I can fit into 12's,where as I started out in 26s. I never thought I would even get to this point, so I am very happy about that.

Size ten for your height is a pretty high weight unless you are big boned. I bet you would look really good at a six.

I'm currently 190 and in a size 16. I think it's probably just my body type. I've had 6 kids and I've definitely got a mommy pouch. I just don't want to set myself up for failure by saying I want to be a size 6 if it's not a reality for me. I'd LOVE to be a size 6. . . But scared that I wouldn't be able to achieve it and get frustrated and discouraged.

I'm hoping to be at an 8/10 when I hit my goal. I don't really have a number for weight set. I've never been in the normal range.. just hoping to get close to that. I am 5'7.5" 250 lbs and a size 18 currently. Surgery is Dec 17th. :)

I saw the PA at my practice for my 6 month. She out right said said to ignore the charts and calculators. I am wearing a M top and 12 bottom. I'd love to be done. She said my body will decide when I'm done losing. I hope soon because I think any more weight off will maje me look sickly. I'm 5'6". 165. With the exception of stomach area, I'm very boney now.

I figure I will keep following the rules and keep diabetes away. Size is not as important to me as good health. I am 5 foot 10 so am tall. I am not even sure what size I am now. I just know that clothes are looser which is nice.

I don't really have a hard goal in mind other than healthy. At this point in time I feel I will keep following the plan and see where my body settles. From what I have read it seems like most peoples bodies have a point their body just stops. I don't want to worry about numbers all the time and wonder if it is too much or too little or if I need to work harder or if I am too skinny. I will play it by ear unless there is a reason to be concerned and is brought up by any of my health care providers. I am not going to worry about family and friends who have only known me as obese deciding I am too skinny because they don't know what a healthy me looks like.

I know this sounds harsh , but my weight loss and health is a private matter between my doctors and me. Together we will find my healthy point. Most of my family and friends are obese themselves and aren't objective.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
