Need advice from WLS mums for my mum

Recommended Posts

This is a bit of a weird one but I am 20 years old and going in for weight loss surgery in January

and my mum is freaking out about the risks and how permanent the surgery is.

Any advice on how to show my mum this is a good lifelong choice I need to make

I am having the same conversation with my daughter. I have given her facts, showed her the reports and let her read the testaments. I don't know how to help you...... B)

If your mum is willing, take her to a seminar and to your surgeon so her questions and concerns can be addressed. But her fears and concerns are only natural. I would think she would be concerned about any type of surgery you would be having, but the fact that this is elective surgery is mostly likely causing her distress. And perfectly understandable. It caused me distress that I was choosing to remove 85% of a perfectly healthy organ. In the end she would see that the quality of your life has improved and understand you did a great thing for yourself. Until then, she's a mum worring about her daughter. My daughter is 27, not having surgery, and I'm worried about her. I'm always worried about her safety. Best.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
