I have SO much support and picture takers it's finally sunken in. I'm seeing what they're seeing. I have many many photos to compare side by side. It's hard to deny the change. post-137384-14156394620992_thumb.jpg

I didn't realize just how much I had lost in my face and neck until I put the pictures next to each other. Feels great to see the progress.

Somedays I see a fat person and somedays I see the new slimmer person! I can't buy clothes by judging the size anymore because I still go for the larger clothes.

I don't even know what size I am because I live in leggings and tops

I just noticed that large size leggings are loose so maybe time to drop to a medium LOL

I completly understand. I went to Old Navy to buy some winter shirts and automatically went to the XL ones and ended up realizing the Larges were too big that I needed a Medium!! Woo hoo!!

I had read that a side effect of WLS surgery which is pretty common, but that people don't realize there is a name for, is body dysmorphia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_dysmorphic_disorder

Basically it's about seeing bad things on the body which may not even really be there. Sometimes heavy people are so accustomed to being heavy that even when they reach their goal weights, they still see themselves as fat. I wouldn't be surprised if, at the end of all this, I end up with that as well.

This is exactly my experience most days! My new "thin" clothes tend to show off my best parts and I feel like I look great in them, but without... I see "relaxed fit" skin with all its lumps, bumps and wrinkles and its not so great!

Relaxed fit skin. OMG!

This is how I feel about my ass now. It's jiggly and saggy now. But it looks okay in tight pants.

I look at my new clothes and don't believe that they belong to me. They look small to me. But then I put on something old and it looks like I'm playing dress up, like a little kid in her mother's clothes. My body is still shaped the same. Just smaller. I maybe that is why I don't quite believe I should be looking at clothes in the missy section and not the plus size section.

I know I'm smaller but I don't think I'm thin. I think I'm just a more normal size. Other people comment or call me skinny Minnie & I think it's sweet but not true.

I am starting to see the old me that I knew 10 years ago and I am loving it!!! With everyone talking about not being able to see themselves as being smaller, I am seeing things the opposite way. I was thin for so long and then heavy for 10 years. When I looked in the mirror, I didn't know who that heavy person was. She was a stranger. This year, I am getting ME back!!!

The thing is Jodi you know what it's like to be "thin" for a lot of us that's not the case for me I have spent the totally of my 31 years being "fat" I have never been normal or thin so after being the fat one for 31 years and now I am more an average size it takes a lot to adjust to ... The last time I weighed what I do now was 15 years ago when I was a fat teenager ...

I'm just short of a 100 lb loss. People keep calling me skinny and the newest one is "tiny"...I reply I weigh 220 lbs and then watch the look of total shock. No one believes I weigh that. My son guessed my weight to be 40lbs less! I don't get it!

I am having a bit of trouble dealing with my weight loss. I look at my naked body and it freaks me out. It's been 5.5 months since surgery and I have lost 130 lbs since April, when I started this thing. I fit into clothes smaller than my step daughter. My body doesn't seem to be mine anymore, and I really can't stand it. I need to find someway to get over it.

Omg I know what you mean! I'm still forcing myself to fit into larger sizes! It's like I'm scared to be smaller.... Maybe if my husband made some compliments it would be better.. Is it me or him that's struggling with the weight loss

I have never been thin. I think the lowest weight I can remember is 199 and that was 8 to 10 yrs ago. I can't wait to see what I look like at 170 or less. My goal is 140 to 150, that may be a little to thin for my liking as I've always been big even as a child. I do notice my shrinking body alot more these days. I'm learning to say thank you to compliments. My 16s are starting to get loose and I'm excited about this. I can wait to get into 14s.

I think what will help with all this is being as mindful of our new bodies as we were our old bodies. We were very focused on where our fat was in relation to things around us.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
