I aint gettin skinny!

Recommended Posts

:) I am 4 weeks post op and following my doctors advice. I haven't had my first fill yet. Lost 5 pounds before my surgery then 15 after and have gained 10 pounds back. I am nearly back at the weight I was the day I was banded over a month ago. Yes, i am exercising every day, yes, I am drinking Water when I am supposed to, yes I am eating right, less than 1000 calories and 20 grams of fat a day, yes my bowels are moving.

I am a little down. Make that down as down can be. Spent every dime to my name and then some to get this done. Oh and now the incision where my port is is getting infected.

Not a good day.:P

You haven't had a fill yet and you're still in the healing process. I know you're anxious but it does take time to get things going. Once you start getting filled and start getting some restriction, you'll see some changes. I didn't really start losing until after my second fill.

Don't give up yet. Have you had a fill? You don't have much restriction yet, so you're probably pretty hungry. I would try doing less than 1000 calories a day if you can. I don't reach that calorie level unless I'm eating something I shouldn't. (Like yesterday when my family insisted on a Chinese buffet dinner.)

Also, if you haven't paid attention to how much you're eating at a time, try that. My surgeon only recommends 1/2 cup per meal and only 3 meals a day. Sometimes this is difficult, but you will lose if you do.

One more thing...until you have had a fill, stay away from carbs completely. They will just make you hungrier.

Good luck and don't worry...

Hang in there.. The fills will help. I'm already looking forward to my 2nd. Cardio will help too.. and really watching the calories.. I'm shooting for 2 llbs a week right now.. but it does go up and down. I was right were you are at 4 weeks..

Hang in there.. you are still healing! You could be retaining Water, or still be swollen.. It took me 8 weeks for the swelling to completely get down. You are not going to really lose weight until you are completely healed and have that first fill.. It is early.. dont give up or get upset yet!!!

That blows. It does.

However, you're expecting too much too soon.

I dare say you should probably eat a bit more. I know that's counter to someone else's advice. 1100 calories a day is as low as regular dieters should go. With out any restriction, you'd be hard pressed to eat fewer calories with out wanting to stab someone.

But keep your meals small, drink more Water than seems reasonable and it will come.

OH Juli

If you think your incision is getting infected, get to the doctor ASAP.

As for weight loss, you are 4 weeks out from major surgery, are you supposed to even be exercising yet? I was told to take it way easy for 2 weeks, and then resume exercise at 6 weeks.

Anywho, your body needs some time to adjust. it'll come.

I agree that you might try eating more. At first i i was eating about 800 cals. I found that if i bumped it up to about 1200 i lost faster. I have a prob. on the weekends with poor choices. Its going slow for me as well but its going. Dont get too let down yet, and also dont exspect too much out of your first fill. Iv had 2 and still need more. One more i think will be perfect. Keep up the good work.

Stacy how many cc's do you have now? Can you tell a difference? I was banded yesterday and I'm so excited.

I lost only about 10 pounds the first 4 months because I had to keep going back to adjust fills. Its frustrating and I thought I'd be one of those that just "wasn't successful" witht he band. Here I sit now, 20 months out, and I've gone from 226 lbs to 148. I'm getting my Tummy Tuck in July. I'm not at goal but I am ok with where I am. I'm 46 yrs old and don't need to be super thin at this point. Best of luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
