I am 7 weeks in and have only lost 21 pounds. Haven't lost a any weight in the last 10 days. Just started working out.. Leslee Sansone walk tapes.. 30 to 45 mins. Getting frustrated.

If you are in this range you are good. I was sleeved on 11/24/14 and have lost 26lbs.

Thanks Shadow and Chicogirl.. you are right.. in my heart I know that this is better than anything I have ever done and I think you are correct that you drop so fast in the beginning that it warps your prospective about what is possible. I just got back from my first postop visit with my nutritionist and she gave me some good suggestions .. so I am feeling good about things today... plus did lose a pound... i know I shouldn't weight every day but......

I am so glad I found this topic. Of course it wasn't too hard since I, too, had my surgery on 11-24 ;) . I've been feeling a little discouraged lately because of my stall. I lost 30 pounds within the first 3 1/2 weeks post-op. I'm now almost 8 weeks out and I've lost nothing since that loss (fortunately no gains either). What I've read here gives me hope that my RNY wasn't in vain. Thanks to you all!!

I'm still sitting at 175-4.8. I know it will pass. I know I need to exercise and know that this put me just 15lbs away from my high school weight. (FYI lapband in 2012, sleeved 11/24). Down 77lbs from 11/12/2012, 27 from sleeved date. But if I could drop 25 more. Hit 100down! I'd be so thrilled. Anyway not what I wanted to post about. Actually had an awful scare this week (men beware. Gonna talk nipples). This Last week noticed discoloration is both my nipples, and it didn't wash off! Made mistake of googling it. Panicked. Called dr who seemed to panic too. Saw her next morning. that was Wednesday. She got me in to radiology yesterday. (More panic. You only get in that fast if you are dying). Had mammo and it was perfectly clear. Thank God. I was writing my will. Now I'm referred to dermatology and Brest Clinic. But no panic. I look like I have a misshapen freckle on the center of each nipple? I've gone from a full C cup to an empty A cup with the weight loss. I nursed two big babies till they could wAlk. Plus take thyroid meds. Im 46. I'm now thinking the combo of all that has caused this. Idk. But now I'm guessing it's topical. Probably hormonal. I just hate waiting and wondering. I kept thinking this week how I'm finally a size I kinda like and now I have cancer. Damn irony. I almost didn't believe them when they said my mammo looked perfect. Has anyone else been through this

Hi Gang! How's everyone doing? I hope everyone is feeling good.

Let's do a light hearted topic... It has been over two months since our surgery. What is one of the positive things you have noticed?

I live in Center City Philadelphia. I work outside of the city so normally I drive to work. This week we had a meeting in the city. At the end of the meeting, I started walking to a street where I knew I could pick up a cab. The next thing I knew, I walked all the way home - - - 3.5 miles! It did not phase me one bit. And, it wasn't a conscious decision. I just started walking and the next thing I know I was home. It felt so good. No back aches, no knee soreness... Way cool!!!

Yes, ma'am, I sure am. Just had a full set of labs done, though, and everything is okay. Already taking Biotin, so I'm thinking maybe there's nothing else nutritionally that I can do.

I started using L'Oreal Volume Filler Shampoo and conditioner last week and it does seem to help mask some of the thinning and keep the flyaways from regrowth from standing up straight. I stopped pulling it back, too, because it makes the thinner spots more obvious. Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Lemon Sage is good too, it's just more expensive.

Good luck - it won't last forever! At least, I hope not!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
