Weight loss

Recommended Posts

I'm going through the stages of having revision surgery - my nutritionist has been emphasizing that after I get sleeved - I have to do "high protein" - low-carb. They have me following the plan now as a "pre-op" diet although I'm still waiting for approval

With the band we are high Protein and low carb also, are we not?

Yes but when the band has good restriction, it's hard for some people to digest Protein

I think the shocker is how little food I need to maintain good health. If i eat anything close to what most consider normal...I gain. So i mostly eat Protein and veggies. Some berries and avacado but overall very little fruit due to the sugars.

I am not maintaining good health right now, which is actually a shock to me. My Vitamins and minerals are out of wack! I have to remove soy, add sodium. Add red meat, and wheat back into my diet and additional vitamins! We are not sure this is entirely due to the band yet though.

. I am three weeks post sleeve surgery and I am very disappointed I have not lost more weight. I lost 17 pounds the 1 st week but nothing after that. I am also surprised that I can eat 1 cup of food.

I lost more with my band.

Hulahan- the average healthy weight loss is 2-3 pounds a week. The fact that you lost 17 in one week is great but its only natural for your body to stop & catch up. It might take 5 or 6 weeks for you to start losing again. Don't lose hope ☺

1 cup capacity is too.much at 3 weeks according to my surgeon and nut. Nerves are cut and take 6-8 weeks to heal. I was advised to measure and eat by the clock not hunger those first 2 months. My restriction improved with time.

Having said that the sleeve is not as tight of restriction as the band. Less likely to not tolerate or food.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
